A Poem For Ari
An angel came into my life today
to show me how to smile.
Taught me the joy in life and graced
this world awhile.
Now it is true, that her time was short
and she suffered pain, pure she came
into this life and in innocence went
home again.
Now never will she know of sin...or will
it ever stain her soul. She will never regret
a place she's been, never will grow old.
For her time of sorrow is done. There is
nothing to fear. Just flowered fields beneath the sun...and angels' lullabies
to hear.
And loving people waited there...
to show me how to smile.

Sorry...not really a poem. Just something I wrote for a class assignment back when Whitney Houston passed away.
A majestic voice, affectionately known to the world as "The Voice". Regal image, beautiful with sex appeal, but never overtly sexual...and perfect poise. Need I say more to describe Whitney Houston? I'm forcing, or better said trying to force back tears as I read the conclusion of the Deaths Elsewhere column of the local newspaper's obituaries, but I feel one sliding down the left side of my face anyway. And I'm saying aloud, "Wooow...just un-freakin'-believable!!" Then I bow my head in a somber moment of silence and prayer. Whitney Houston, an icon to the entertainment...

3 a.m. and 24 yrs
How amazing it is...that which is most deeply felt, for me is the most difficult thing to say. So it's around 3 a.m. and 24 yrs since you went away...and I'm still wishing you were here. Unanticipatedly awakened, sitting up on the side of the lumpy bed...DAZED...as if rudely aroused from drunken slumber. Pleasant thoughts by the millions, unpleasant ones as well invade my head. A veil of darkness hangs in the air...and the sounds of deafening silence permeates the room. 24 yrs...and I sit here, just thinking...24 yrs and here I am still waking up crying tears. Love Storm
Oh...how I treasure the golden tan glow of your skin
and the love light in your beautiful, deep, dark and
hypnotic eyes.
The safety and warmth I find in your arms, when stars
burn cold in the night skies.
When starlight is hidden by the storm-rugged clouds,
when lightening thrills fill the air, when thunder
mutters and threatens the whole world, I so treasure
just knowing you're there.
Then when wind-graded branches claw mercilessly at my
walls...ooooh...I snuggle deep into the curves of your
arms where the sound of your heart...
and the love light in your beautiful, deep, dark and
hypnotic eyes.

DARK POEM

Untitled
Drunken and malicious
He stands in the doorway of a
dimly lit room; reeking of cheap
liquor, cigarettes...and piss.
Suddenly the sound of shattering
glass from a bottle that has
glided across the room without
noticeable movement.
He advances and intrudes her
personal space...screaming and
swearing about his righteousness
and her unfathomable sins.
She makes a mad dash for the outdoors...
crashing through bushes and weeping willows;
while he, in spite of his drunkeness and his
staggering, unsteady gait pursues...and...
He stands in the doorway of a

Outside Looking In
Friendly with alone,
Aimlessly wandering to and
fro seeking a place to belong,
and all the while...inwardly
inquiring where and why.
Am I on a quest for some hidden
and unknown thing? Yes...and I often
cry out in bitter frustration, "Que
diablos es?! (What is it?!)"
Come up on it unexpectantly..."Ah si,
de los labios de uno a los oidos de Dios,
es lo que yo decir.(Ah yeah, from one's lips
to God's ears, is what I say.)"
While everyone else has everything, I...am
molested by loneliness and praying that...
