POEMS AND SHORT STORIES
Poet Introduction
Turbulent waters ahead, sharks behind, shut up and paddle...
diesel fumes
leather lies on my back
boot slides over the seat
the engine growls and kicks
three cars at the lights, I eat
glare off the handlebars
shades gritty but holding
burnt dust overlaying my skin
asphalt baked and groaning
wrist flicks, gear dropped
glide through the curve
finally, an open road
my cares ground in the dirt
boot slides over the seat
the engine growls and kicks
three cars at the lights, I eat
glare off the handlebars
shades gritty but holding
burnt dust overlaying my skin
asphalt baked and groaning
wrist flicks, gear dropped
glide through the curve
finally, an open road
my cares ground in the dirt

Tempted
My hands itch
And my heart jumps.
I see you again after
All this time.
I try to be strong,
To think of my commitment.
I grow so weak in my resolve.
I don’t think I’m going to make it.
I imagine what would happen,
If I just grabbed you this time.
I’d breathe in, and say
“God, you smell divine.”
Delicious, delectable,
Begging to be bitten.
I can’t believe you’re
Here in my kitchen.
Fresh and hot,
Chewy and fudgey,
There on the plate
Is a beautiful brownie.
And my heart jumps.
I see you again after
All this time.
I try to be strong,
To think of my commitment.
I grow so weak in my resolve.
I don’t think I’m going to make it.

His First Heartbreak
My heart and I
Are no longer brothers.
Snarled in combat,
We may kill each other.
My heart and I
Are comrades no more.
We share a pain
I never wanted.
If I could,
I’d rip it out,
Show it the door,
Kick it out.
My friends come see me
And my pain. Our
Talks get awkward,
They go again.
Don’t speak to me.
Words mean nothing.
No one understands
My suffering.
Are no longer brothers.
Snarled in combat,
We may kill each other.
My heart and I
Are comrades no more.
We share a pain
I never wanted.
If I could,
I’d rip it out,
Show it the door,
Kick it out.
My friends come see me
And my pain. Our
Talks get awkward,
They go again.
Don’t speak to me.
Words mean nothing.
No one understands
My suffering.

Love Ebbs
The torrents have receded,
and the river is low.
The bankside reeds dry and brittle
like yesterday’s plans.
What is left in the bed,
but hard stones, worn and tired?
Don’t wait for the rains,
they come unbidden and untamed.
There, behind the thorns
of self-doubt and restlessness,
are the springs.
Hold your heart out like a cup,
and fill it to the brim.
Drink, sweet one
and refresh yourself.
and the river is low.
The bankside reeds dry and brittle
like yesterday’s plans.
What is left in the bed,

Hunted Sorrow (collab with fleshofdanny)
In the midnight forest,
a swimming image through the midst,
she slowly revealed herself.
She turns,
shimmering in starlight,
holding tears inside.
He sees her, he feels her heavy heart…
and approaches slowly.
She feels the dark around her,
and wills the light from within.
Softly, he makes himself known to her.
He approaches peacefully and with understanding eyes.
The air is rent with sorrow, and her ally is silence.
She has been forsaken by hope and abandoned by peace.

Shore Rapture
Wind strokes the neck, caressing
Swells surround, softly shushing
Water sighs, cools the feet.
Sand grains slither underneath,
Pulling me to the ocean deep.

Water sighs, cools the feet.
Sand grains slither underneath,
Pulling me to the ocean deep.

Connected
Serenity drifts, and adoration follows
Lackadaisically past the isle of stillness.
Until the next swoop,
Cascades in torrents full,
Awash in melodious glee.
Tumbling, emerging, then smoothly streaming
Into the warm rain of unutterable bliss.

Glimmered Spirits
We met, mirrored wonders,
And gazed at ourselves
Eager to bathe aglow
In each other’s splendor.
Had we walked abreast,
If only shone outwards,
A moment disembodied,
Eluded this thundering abyss.
And gazed at ourselves
Eager to bathe aglow
In each other’s splendor.
Had we walked abreast,
If only shone outwards,
A moment disembodied,
Eluded this thundering abyss.

Unwanted
The careless lash of spite,
Calculated cruelty spoken.
This is of no consequence.
Although it is brittle and broken,
It is my pride, not my soul.

This is of no consequence.
Although it is brittle and broken,
It is my pride, not my soul.
