Thank you God, for everything.
But we’re sorry, it’s just not enough.
Because even a life a universe beyond
The dreams of the unluckiest amongst us,
Cannot stand resolute forever,
In the unshakable and brutal roars,
Of a brain hardwired through centuries of evolution,
Destined to infinite greed.
So please be kind,
And please forgive us,
In these childish moments,
Where all gratitude is disregarded,
And demands are made to further move heaven and earth,
To fix a life that was so abruptly no longer enough -
A shameful...

What If?
She’s happily married now,
Well,
At least in the moments the rhythmic drum of their hearts fade,
Otherwise,
The echoes of her heart in sync with that of destiny unfulfilled,
Are,
A taunting ghost scratching at a scar that cannot be healed.
And he is too,
Carrying the subtle weight of an unconditional bond –
Pre-determined, but never actually bound –
To an unmet soulmate now a lifetime away,
But once just a conversation apart.
And they both question the existence of that moment:
The paths of two strangers brushing past – ...
Well,

Marching.
I am numb,
A mannequin painted by my own indecision,
And dressed by my lack of vision,
Destined to resent and regret,
Passive and uninspired.
But I march with an army,
Of faceless and distant bodies.
Each a hollow shell,
Mindless wonderers,
Vacant and idle.
And the gunfire rings on,
As I take step after step,
Looking past the horizon,
Seemingly steady and apparently unfazed.
But I am not there,
Absorbed in drowning out the voices,
Hopeless in their pursuit to wake me,
Begging me to address my sorrows, ...

Devils
Hell is empty and all the devils are here;
Running free and tainting life’s purity,
Each manipulator an alibi - vindicating and validating,
Untouchable through the cloud of confusion - uncontrollable through their crawl of chaos,
As we chase their signposts of accusation,
And aimlessly slump our fists from devil to devil,
Trying to find the start of it all,
But we forget - hell is vacant and all the devils are hungry,
And they will never be full.
They will always be feeding on their torture,
Always advocating greed and justifying...

Emotions
The bitter smell of sick,
The resentful pang of hunger,
I am emotionless.
My dead and despaired brain aches,
In the bold and brutal roars of greed,
Yearning for the warmth of sentiment.
I beg for passion and intensity back,
And a prick of sentience too,
Living merely with faith in benevolence,
And an urgency to gratify my howling hunger.
My body rattles in the shrieks of demand,
From the swarms of emotions at my gates,
And valour runs as desperation swells,
Bursting the dam and releasing the horde,
Who strive to brim...

We will not tolerate your domination,
Over our manipulated principals,
Any longer.
We are aching with animus,
Against your drone of tyranny,
Undermining our defiance,
All these years.
But we are cognizance here forward,
Throbbing with malice and retribution,

Wishing My Life Away
Begging for a life in a time that’s not now,
Forever and ever looking forward or back,
Haunted by riots of inimical fantasies,
Never ever realizing now.
Waiting for that moment to replay,
That one obsessively-evoked memory,
From an age ago.
Suffering a war that’s gone on so long,
Where years and years of dreams have been consumed unknowingly,
By my desensitized and blinded body,
Thanks to my burdening army of toxic worries.

Chasing Perfection
Dreaming of a shadow just like you, but not just like you, The perfect you.
You, with this,
And without that.
You, but having achieved this,
And having completed that.
You, but slightly less this,
And slightly more that.
Chasing the shadow that is the fuel for your days yet the poison of your mind.
Since it plagues your mind with self-hate,
And it monopolizes your thoughts with self-disgust.
An anchor around your ankle,
Your dream is your pain.
Because every now and then you persuade yourself,

Chronophobia
Suddenly you awoke, born on to an accelerating train – dragged,
Dragged through your life by the unforgiving, powerful engine of time,
Stumbling from one station to the next, lugging your thoughts – chaos,
With no terminal on the skyline, blinded by the lights of opportunity flashing past,
That draw your gaze up, catching a glimpse from behind the window – periodically,
As the train thunders on, echoing through the tunnels, flying from station to station,
Leaving them in a spiral of dust, once your dream, now just a memory –
Just a forgotten station...

He is the artist and his body is his canvas,
Bloody lines sketched down his arms,
Just relics of his numb, futile eternity,
His feeble attempts to feel something,
But he doesn’t realize that his art is worth more than his life,
That it could sell for millions,
Because his drowning is his superpower.
When he exposes the arm he lugs,
Uncovers the canvas that’s his drug,
When he selects the blade that he loves,
And picks out his favourite bloody brush,
Is when he welcomes home truelove.

Our Silent Wars
If only you knew,
Knew how hopelessly lost I am in the void that is my mind.
Knew how tired I am of this chase to perfection that is my life.
Because I’m here suffocating and drowning,
Smothered and strangled under all my sombre sorrows,
Trapped between my dreaded daemons and desired dreams.
But I’m trying, I promise – fighting my mental struggles,
Staying afloat my endless responsibilities,
hopelessly pursuing my aspirations.
But you do know,
Know how bloody our battles can get.
Know the tortures...
Knew how hopelessly lost I am in the void that is my mind.
Knew how tired I am of this chase to perfection that is my life.
