Grief Isn’t Always Complicated
I think I’ve been preparing for the inevitable
We all are
We talk about it with logic and reason
As if that will soften the emotional blow
I’ve been preparing poetry in my native tongue
So that she knows how much I appreciate her
How much we love her…
She once told me that after she lost her two-year-old
Back in 1950
She didn’t cry
Like some kind of numbness washed over her
That although she felt sorrow and sadness
Stoicism helped her manage
While still taking care of her newborn
We somewhat deduced ...

No Time For Regret!
No time for regret that belongs to yesterday.
We cannot change what's been and gone -
So why waste the energy?
What can't be fixed might drive us crazy,
And life's too short for that!
Let's embrace it, come what may -
Celebrate a brand new day,
YOUR WAY!
A future unknown.
Haha! I'm the last person to revel in the unknown -
Anyway, it sounded good!
But hey, there is some merit in it -
Feeling excited about what's to come,
While now is simply an unwritten book.
It's easy to get bogged down fearing...

A Thousand Years From Forever (Thirty)
The Waterloo
Below Sea Level
The Golden Palace
The Royal Council Room
Our Supreme King, it is imperative you ordain your Passover scrolls
There are messages the other realms have not heard that speak wisdom of old
Let your words be read from your Sacred Orator’s Mouth
Words of knowledge, truth, that dare not ever travel farther South
It is the day our Hebrew prophet was slain
As he marched to his own demise, upon the hills of Golgotha, the darker clouds descending, the thunder that brought three days of wrath, and to...

The truth will unfold
Undeniably, shadows consume the sky.
Inescapably the stars dim and die.
Uncharacteristically, whispers turn to screams.
Disproportionately hope fractures dreams.
Incomprehensibly, the world twists to decay.
Unexceptionally time drifts away.
Individualistically, souls stand alone.
Irresponsibly they carve from stone.
Unintentionally, paths to ruin align.
Uncompromisingly darkness claims what’s mine.

Riders of Contagion
All over Appalachia bishops matched circuits to riders. "Does he know and keep our faith? "Do people cotton to his preaching?" Of most importance, "has he a good horse?"
Jake, a long time circuit rider, was an admirable horseman who died a passable preacher.
Jake's infectious smile helped carry his message. A half dozen weeks to complete the circuit, all he owned he carried in his saddle bags: a clean shirt, new bibles, and venison jerky.
Living in tiny clusters, Jake tended to church goers who were stitched together by needle thin riders who, like...

The Dark Moon
The moon has a dark side
…a harem of stars
to fuck every night;
surrounded by his concubines
he sucks up their light,
and glows with an
aura so saintly and white
thus, a naďve is fooled
with his deceptive sight
a vampire in disguise-

Grateful week—Tuesday
This morning I remember
What a great privilege for my family & myself
Having access to modern healthcare
I am thankful
For the progress made in science
Solutions found to ailments
and continued research to develop more
I mourn for those who DON’T have access
And am glad some people DO care for their plight
In my gratitude I find
Renewed interest in helping others
I wish warmth and health
Love and happiness
For ALL
this grateful week
& beyond

A day in a Nurses life
A day in a Nurses life
Many people do not see what a Nurse goes through each day my hat goes off to them.
The old man opens his eyes as I approach and manages a smile when he sees me.
“You again, young miss?” he struggles to speak.
She smiles and nods, checking his vitals, and fluffing his pillows. The old man is not long for this world; I hope his family makes it.
She sits and holds his hand for a few minutes, catching him up on the news, anything to take his mind off the inevitable.
As she leaves, the old man catches...

Last Rainbow
I am the rainbow after your storm
The sky is not of slate grey
It is darker, unrelenting, menacing
it summons the lightning
wicked in its invention
You see it
Before you hear the destruction
You feel it
Through the concrete construction
There's no time to run from the devastation
Boom!
Crack!
Pow!
What is left now?
The sun
Peaks its head out for fun
Illuminating the particles in the sky
Seeing all the colors way up high
Wish on...

Motives
One of the reasons that MAGA folks get so hung up on the letter of the law, particularly the specifics that their lawyers can semantically sabotage to their own perverted ends, is so that they can more readily mask their deep seated desire to use the law as a jurisprudentially rubber stamped vehicle to vicariously deliver the punishment that scratches their continual sadism itch, which they will never admit to.
And of course their deep seated desire for seeing punishment delivered leads to the ceaseless miscarriages of justice, that are so shocking to the rest of us, yet it is the...

A Woman Tries to Distract Herself from Her Pain with Writing and Books while Trying to Get Comfortable in Her Bed
His careful hands move
splayed journals and pencil bags
and a battered, dog-eared copy of Archaic Smile
from the tangle of blankets and pillows
and hot water bottles.
He burrows under my arm
just like he did when he was small,
and for just a sparkling moment
we are not a sick mother
and her fourteen-year-old son –
We are a constellation of swirling
gold and silver, fire and ice,
the spark of all good things on this good earth.
