The Craft
Writing poetry to record has additional hoops that just a written poem doesn't have to overcome. Tone, pacing, breath control, mixing, matering, equipment setup, etc etc. I feel i have gotten better at these through practice and i am proud of this last one i made. It easy for me to get so caught up in the craft that my actual content suffers as i am more focused on the performance then what i am performing if that makes sense. Can anyone relate? As always, I'd love some feedback on this one from my homies here in the DU!

Also, i would encourage you all to pay anything you record here as that is why this group exists!

Progress not Perfection
Progress keeps me going. When I look back at my recordings from 2 years ago I am amazed where I am at in terms of the craft today. There is a lot I still need to learn, but I am proud of the progress I have made.

Lyrics:

I feel like a loser
I feel so stupid
no goals reached never reach conclusions
i'm like a fucking idiot
clueless but i'm living it
constantly giving in
bitching that i'm sick of it
why?
can't I ever finish shit I
always let opportunity pass me by
try as i might
still i lie in the night
with no sleep, zero sheep
in my eyes

Turn down the static
i'm a kratom addict
with a bad habit
the last cat to live lavish
and I rap fast, I rap slow
still get no
views, listens
who's dissing?
the list is only missing a few
shit add two
of the who's who
prove i lose
so i snooze

Yeah I said it,
i'm on reddit
straight feeling like a loser
on my computer and twitter
i figure my liver quivers
i've littered my brain
with killers of pain
delivered in vain
a loser the same
who's sober today
beginning to say,
i'll never win in this game

Na-Nu Na-Nu One & All!!
Greetings one and all for I am a passé anachronistic fogeyish antediluvian Marine Vet. I've been writing poetry, lyrics, quotes, and quips for nearly two scores (40 yrs). On occasion, in the past, I have gone to various diverse open mic nights at several different locations to recite my collective works but haven't quite got the responses that I did so desired from the audience. So I thought I would seek out some insightful assistance on how to be more vocal and presentable with my reciting poetry.

Fleassy Malay - Unhear This
Sharing a brillint album of spoken word that has been newly released. A fantastic marriage of expression and sound. I've certainly taken some inspiration from this.

Available for free on Spotify.
