I find this performance to be absolutely hilarious. I need to reminded that not all my poetry has to be serious. I look forward to hearing what ya'll think about this one.. Enjoy!

The best audio reading of my poem (so far)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lgI7JTUHt_Y

This is the poem that I was talking about that was voiced by different people, and not by me. I love the clarity and pleasantness of their voices. The song in the background was also created by me.

I hope you guys enjoy it!

Loud Speaker Audio / Video Competition discussion
Hear ye! Hear ye!

The good people of Loud Speaker poetry are hosting our second audio / video poetry competition.

You can enter the comp here: https://deepundergroundpoetry.com/forum/competitions/read/10256/#425228

This space is for discussion, help, hints, tips and banter (banter especially encouraged)

Last time we had some fabulous entries and it was so heart warming to see people who had never tried audio / video before take the plunge. We would love to encourage as many people as we can that you really can do it.... all it takes is the first step of trying.

Good luck, and let battle commence!

“Witches” by Fleassy Malay
https://youtu.be/alNwmTFZri0

Moving on in comparison to my last post regarding spoken word and how something that can be read without expression, I just wanted to compare it to this piece that continually blows me away by Fleassy Malay, a spoken word artist I’ve been watching a lot lately.

It is modern poetry - dealing a lot with modern issues such as gender and equality, however I think it’s done in a really powerful way rather than “LET ME SHOVE THIS DOWN YOUR THROAT”.

The simple nature of this video is just so stripped back and beautiful, and I love the way that every word is emphasised somehow by the movements of her body.

Compared to the last piece (living like an existentialist) I really think this is a fine display of audio eloquence.

What are your thoughts?

Loving Like An Existentialist
So this is a poem that was brought to my attention today and I wanted to put this in the group for a bit of a discussion.

“Loving Like An Existentialist” by Savannah Brown.

https://youtu.be/DrL-Go-pGy0

I think this is a prime example of how monotony can ruin a poem. Which is a shame, because it’s a prize winning poem. A beautiful poem. Totally ruined by her tone I think. The words are just so powerful and collective, I just felt like she couldn’t be bothered to read it almost. However... the subtle video saves it a little. Which just shows how fine the balance can be.

What are your thoughts on this piece? How would you change it?
