Thanks for sharing.
I might check it out… any excuse to get the drum out to be fair. I use her throughout the eight sabbats of the year and any other occasion that requires.
I should really show you my drum sometime. I birthed it in ceremony myself at a Shamanic day workshop, stretched the skin, wrote intentions on the hoop, crafted the handle. Meeting the spirit of the drum was a wonderful experience. Turns out my spirit animal is an extremely mischievous chipmunk. The lady leading our journey session said I grinned like a child throughout. 😂
Shamanism isn’t my main path, but I have a huge amount of respect for it and feel there’s much to learn there. I’ve had some great conversations with Shamanic practitioners.
Seek teachings everywhere. ✌🏻

So my drum is made of stag skin, which I chose as a representation of this land, and being of this land.
On the handle, a lot of people put crystals and stuff, but I have the tip of my horn. Another project saw me making a ritual horn (that makes noise and shakes the ground for miles - I also made all the leather straps for it and hand burned runes into it to spell out a particular intent) and this was the tip of the horn that was cut off to make the mouthpiece. I thought it was entirely appropriate to weave those two ritual items together on a personal level.
The little silver symbol is Ogham — something that is particularly important to my DruidCraft path. It is the symbol of Nuin, the ash tree, which has become sacred to my journey and is also my Celtic tree associated with my birthday.
The ash tree represents the beginning and the end of peace in a metaphorical way, and that’s the energy I wanted to put into this drum, this idea of liminal balance. No light without dark. No good without bad. It’s a universal truth.
I won’t tell you the name of the drum, because that’s between me and the drum. But yeah… she’s beautiful. And I love working with her.

Fascinating.
Yeah I’m not really one path either, which is why I say DruidCraft. Quintessentially Druidic, but undeniably with elements of green witchcraft / hedge witchery. I don’t really feel the need to try and tie it down. As I said before… seek teachings everywhere 😂
My god is this land, and that’s all that matters, really. It’s fluid. It moves with the seasons. Everything really.
Drums are so personal so it’s always interesting to read other people’s experiences with theirs. All I knew is I didn’t want one unless I had made it myself. It was a very special experience

…Would it be ok to ask here what people’s book recommendations are regarding their paths?
(If you don’t feel it’s appropriate R, let me know and I will remove the post)
I feel like there’s a tremendous knowledge pool in books, and often, many are hidden away that we just don’t know about.
I know an awful lot about herbs and plants and forage a lot from nature both for food and medicine.
I’ve just finished up Botanical curses and poisons: the shadow lives of plants and folk magic and healing: an unusual history of everyday plants both by Fez Inkwright. Would highly recommend to anybody interested in furthering their natural knowledge.
