Hi everyone,

Putting this thread up, to send word that we've lost another great poet here at DUP.

EngrVV (Vic) passed away at the end of January from a heart attack and I don't know if any one else knew that, but I just found out on Facebook from his partner, Aida, who was the persona of Adelaide in his many romantic and love poems.

Vic had not been online here for a while, but he wrote many wonderful poems and was part of our mod team for a time.

So just giving a heads up to anyone who knew Vic , in case you didn't know .

Find him here if you want to read his works:

Ah man, I’m sorry to hear that Madame. I remember Vic with fondness.

Safe travels, fella. Love to all that knew him.

Yeah, I was surprised both at his passing and at myself for missing that on his FB wall until everyone started wishing him a happy birthday yesterday. ☹️

Vic not only wrote poetry but he authored a number of mathematics textbooks too-- very learned guy, he was.

He was a gentleman. Not quite as active here by the time I arrived.

We were introduced when as a mod, he hid one of my poems, operating under the impression it was encouraging suicide. I was a new kid on the block and some knight in shining armor was quick to defend it because Freedom of Speech. Or a fresh pair of tits. Or both, who knows.

The misunderstanding was resolved within a week or so and he apologized in private. I expressed gratefulness for his efforts in attempting to keep DUP a positive atmosphere. I think we bounced into each other once or twice afterwards.

Rest in Peace, Vic.

Didn’t know him well, but sad to see him go. Seemed like a nice chap.

Here's Vic's obituary, but the site is undergoing maintenance right now-- maybe will be back up at some point :

Oh wow, I'm in shock.
He was such a wonderful man, a great gentleman with a great sense of poetry.
I know he was one of the mods for a long time who tried to enforce balance and fairness.
I was grateful that he featured one of my works at his site after a compteititon win and I was so honored and pleased that someone of his grandeur would make it part of his page.
May he rest in peace.

It’s been a tough year all round.

Vic, the engineer. was mad for the Tanka. loved them. prolific and methodical. interesting fellow, I think he lived in an igloo for a bit, hunted seals and such.  credit to him, for all he done here and elsewhere.

*hat tip*
