Sorry for entering the thread so late into the discussion.

That was an interesting article, I think it is realistic to assume that humans on other planets will have wildly divergent evolution,  but unrealistic to assume that divergent humans would war with one another.

I think there are two possibilities.

1) We find a way around the speed of light limit, in which case extra-solar populations wonít diverge that much. This seems unlikely.

2) The far more likely possibility: there is no way to travel faster than light, in which case extra-solar colonies will be completely separate and autonomous for all practical purposes. The closest star is around four years away, even if you could somehow project a military force over such a large distance, space is empty, there is nowhere to hide, the defending force has potentially years to detect and prepare for the invasion.

For me the opportunity for humanity to create new intelligent species far outweighs the tiny risk that we would spark  an interstellar war.

Hey! Can you please recommend to me some books and not only about these topics? I have recently decided to read more about them and they fascinate me and I want to find out more about them from different perspectives. Plus, I don't want to waste my time with some useless information as I have a lot of writing assignments and I spend a lot of time finding examples on how to write them. Now, I am looking for Personal Statement Examples for Graduate School on https://www.essayedge.com/samples/graduate-personal-statement/ as I want to write an outstanding one to impress the admission committee.

Hey, if you found some good books about these topics, then please share them with us, I am also in search of such books. However, I like that my teachers always when giving writing assignments let us decide the topic and I can write about what I like. Plus, it takes me much less time to write the essays, and whenever I have the opportunity I use the Paper True free coupon on https://www.topessayediting.com/reviews/papertrue/ to edit them to be sure that it is well written.

I think you might eventually find that  a way way out there Galaxy was formed by a young God playing with firecrackers  and lighting one up next to the firecracker factory.  More research needed.

The history of science is the history of failed theories, by science's own self-definition of the scientific method. (Interesting thread, thanks Zazzles).

I don't think interstella war would happen it doesn't make financial sense. The main goal of the power structures of earth is captial gain. Trade is far more likely. The precious metals we need are out there. If some poorer planet can supply them to us in exchange for the chemical recipe for opioids we would have ourselves an intergalatic opium war.

I recently read a comment from an obviously very knowledgeable fellow who said in short, that putting all the eggs in going to Mars is ridiculous considering that a window opens only once every  two years.  Humongous problems for everyone............while China is banking on the moon, way ahead of the US with its plans to go back and settle teams there. (NOt wasting time and energy:  seems that the moon has a very rich ''undersoil''.

Exactly Robert, we are earhlings not Martians! Unless we transform into cyborgs we could never physically survive out space as a whole.
