The reason it's so funny is that after a while, you can tell what's happening.  Simon's mother keeps telling him not to be so silly, and to bring his 'wages' home differently, e.g. "Next time, hold it on top of your head and run along home!"  But the next time, his 'wages' consist of a round cheese, and it is a hot day.  The cheese melts all over him.  And so on.  I got the giggles so badly, and the more I tried to stop, the worse they became.  Soon, half the school was laughing at me laughing.

My question still stands.
