Biden’s 17 Executive Orders and Other Directives in Detail

The moves aim to strengthen protections for young immigrants, end construction of President Donald J. Trump’s border wall, end a travel ban and prioritize racial equity.

WASHINGTON — In 17 executive orders, memorandums and proclamations signed hours after his inauguration, President Biden moved swiftly on Wednesday to dismantle Trump administration policies his aides said have caused the “greatest damage” to the nation.

Despite an inaugural address that called for unity and compromise, Mr. Biden’s first actions as president are sharply aimed at sweeping aside former President Donald J. Trump’s pandemic response, reversing his environmental agenda, tearing down his anti-immigration policies, bolstering the teetering economic recovery and restoring federal efforts to promote diversity.

Here’s a look at what the measures aim to accomplish:

U.S. Rejoins World Health Organization and Paris Climate Agreement

Most new presidents have an ambitious plan of action for their first 100 days in office. America's 46th President Joe Biden is already off to a running start with 17 executive actions in his first 24 hours in office. Among the important orders issued from the Oval Office are rejoining the World Health Organization and the Paris Climate Agreement. Both are UN-associated international groups where U.S. leadership had been critical before the Trump administration withdrew from them in July and November of 2020, respectively. The new administration's decision to rejoin both indicates a new federal direction with respect to science.

The World Health Organization (WHO) is a special agency of the United Nations dedicated to the global advancement of medicine and wellbeing. Their mission is to create “a world in which all peoples attain the highest possible level of health” through research and science-based interventions. The WHO is funded (in part) by the member states of the UN. Former President Trump's administration decided to exit the organization over claims that the WHO mishandled the early stages of the global pandemic. The withdrawal was condemned by many health experts, including the non-partisan American Medical Association, who issued a statement citing the important role America has long played in combatting global health crises and the importance of scientific collaboration during a pandemic.

Reengaging with the WHO is part of the Biden administration's stated plan to ready the U.S. for future “emerging biological and pandemic threats” and return America to a place of global health leadership. Among President Biden's other health-themed executive orders is the decision to rejoin the Paris Agreement. Decided in 2015, the agreement binds all signatory nations to fight climate change with the goal of keeping global warming below 2°C (3.6°F) above pre-industrial temperature levels.

Named after the city the treaty was adopted in, the goal of the Paris Agreement is a climate-neutral planet by mid-century. The Trump administration withdrew from the agreement in November 2020 at the end of a five-year cycle of commitment; now the U.S. has rejoined the efforts to combat the disastrous effects of the climate crisis. Once-deleted references to climate change science have also reappeared on the website of The White House.

Among his other new climate-centered actions, President Biden revoked the permit of the Keystone XL pipeline and has placed a moratorium on drilling in the Arctic Refuge. Accordingly, staff has been directed to review the over 100 environmental regulations which were weakened or repealed during the previous administration. Such early actions by the new president clearly shows the new administration means to make a priority of the linkage between public health, the environment, and faith in science.

‘Parade Across America’ has Indigenous touch

Wednesday’s virtual “Parade Across America” honoring President Joe Biden’s inauguration had an Indigenous touch.

The event featured short, taped segments from every state and U.S. territory. It was streamed on various social sites.

Among those featured were members of the Native American Women Warriors Association, the nation’s first all-female Native American color guard.

“Our mission is to recognize women veterans that have served in America’s armed forces, especially those like us of Native descent,” said U.S. Army Ret. Mitchelene Bigman, Crow, one of the group’s founders. “We are here today from across the country for this historic event. Congratulations, President Biden and Vice President Harris.”

It was a very refreshing change of pace today to tune into ABC World News this evening and hear about Biden's first full day in office within a matter of minutes.

But it was also a sobering day, as the vacuum created by the lack of politics taking center stage was instead filled with dire predictions of losing another 100,000 to Covid-19 by February because of infections already set into motion by holiday gatherings.

After the first hundred days in the Biden regime...the U.S. will have 1,360 days left of bondage and abject jive. As mayors and governors find cures for Covid by miraculous reversals of lockdowns. Just in time for the inauguration. Covid circa 21 is less virulent when a buggywhipped old fart dixiecrat has the atomic codes. Funny how that works...???..While tech oligarchs, whom have shut all possible doors for four years, NOW...are opening their resources to the new administration. Just in time for the inuguration that less than 4000 came to but got 82 million billion votes in the most secure election in this galaxy. The whole world saw the jive turkey sandwich of events and are calling it out... Meanwhile the same Nazis, that were brought to the U.S after the war under operation paperclip, are in power and now back to their old tricks. Accusing their opponents of that which they are guilty. Security over civil rights will be their new mantra. More power to the state and global entities. Thus less power to the individual....the experience dies with it...

I posted this in one of the government threads last year when it was first released. It has since been updated, and as of today outlines goals to uphold federal trust responsibilities

That's one comprehensive agenda! I hope to see it updated on what gets accomplished.

Appoint Native Americans to high-level government positions.
Not only did the Obama-Biden Administration appoint Native Americans to traditionally-held positions, like Assistant Secretary of Indian Affairs and Director of Indian Health Service, they appointed Native Americans to many positions across government, including Deputy Secretary of the Interior, senior roles in the White House Domestic Policy Council and the White House Office of Intergovernmental Affairs, U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations Human Rights Council in Geneva, Switzerland and the first Native female judge to a U.S. District Court. Biden will build on the Obama-Biden Administration’s record by ensuring tribal nations have a strong voice and role in the federal government.

^ That's key right there; get the right people on the inside to ensure communication is a two way street. People who actually care.

Top: American Melting Pot under the Obama administration

Bottom: White supremacy ( with token black male and female on the end ) under the Trump administration.
