This is thread is to discuss President-elect Biden and Vice-president elect Harris' inauguration, ushering in a new era for the U.S. I don't feel any current thread is applicable for this topic.

it looks to me with this appointment like Biden & co. are making a forceful point of opposing hatred, discrimination and bigotry. from across the pond, the example is very much appreciated. i believe Biden himself has good intentions this way but he is guided by Kamala Harris.
it’s the sign of a true leader to recognise where he lacks knowledge and needs assistance. he is not weak for allowing her free rein, he is wise to listen to her advice

He truly is, anna. he will have more women appointees than any president ever, and will make American history in doing such.
Rise, Matricarchy, Rise! And bless those man who help them. We're hoping for a peaceful transition of power today. I, for one, will be happy when this is all over. It's been a rough three months. I know that doesn't compare to the last four years; however, I feel it's been a culmination of them!

Women To Celebrate Harris With ‘Pearls And Chucks’ Tomorrow
In advance of tomorrow, #ChucksAndPearls has started trending on Twitter and a private Facebook group, called “Chucks and Pearls Day, January 20th, 2021,”currently counts close to 70,000 members.
For years, reporters have noted Kamala Harris' fondness for pearls. Many women in politics favor pearls, but Harris wears them for a special reason. When she accepted the Democratic vice-presidential nomination, with a strand of South Sea pearls around her neck, Harris thanked the family she was born into and the family she found in her sorority, Alpha Kappa Alpha (AKA). AKA is one of the nation's oldest Black sororities with notable members such as Maya Angelou, Coretta Scott King and Rosa Parks. The sorority's founders and incorporators are referred to as the "twenty pearls," and today, pearls represent solidarity between the sisters.

Just watched the helicopter take off from the White House lawn on ABC Good Morning America. He still plans on making a speech before boarding Air Force One.
