Classic Corner Discussion Thread

You're totally good.

Yep. I thought I did see it spelled like that somewhere else. But, I should've double-checked.

Thank you still working on a piece I hope to submit
This is not easy
My hats off to all those who accomplish this task
Even if you can get the general idea of what the poem is about, capturing the essence of another's poetry or poem takes studying the poet and their body of work. This enables you access to information and knowledge ( albeit limited ) into the poet's experience and mindset.
Not certain which poet you're working on, but Ai is particularly difficult because of her intense narrative from the perspective of others, which, in many cases, makes it highly difficult to ascertain whether or not she is penning from personal perspective or that of another because she's that convincing.
Don't give up!

Its a great way to jog my memory to see them organized like that, and a good reference to link back to some of the comps and poems without hunting around, it looks good

The Classic Corner Comps have many functions:
First and foremost, they create sitewide hashtags of the selected authors. Secondly, they introduce those who are serious about studying poetry to both classic and modern greats. Thirdly, they provide an opportunity for members to receive a structured critique ( sometimes these take up to an hour or more ) specifically designed to improve their writing skills.
A win or placement should be viewed merely as a bonus, not the wherewithall of entering. We have one more month after this one before our Classic King and Queen, 2020 will be crowned with a specially designed trophy.
The above was last year's; this years will remain a surprise until awarded in January.
On that note, Johnny and I have DU's Official NaPo coming up in April, to which registration will begin in March, to which marketing begins in February! Can you BELIEVE it's only a few months away?!
Are there any members willing to step up, learn, and assist with this series March, April, and May? If so, message us!
