The lie
A secret that grew
Behind whispers of love

So maliciously disguised
It’s seed planted deep
Became a venomous flower

A heart misled by colourful petals
That could not see the rotten roots
Keeping the lie strong

A scent intoxicating the senses
Keeping them off balance
Seemingly beautiful

An undercurrent that swept the soul
The lie knew the right words
To blind the innocence of love

Like rain on the window

When things go wrong
Forever seems blue
Graduation day for the broken heart
Love is now going nowhere

Happiness is never coming home
Empty pillow empty lies
Pretty hollow words
That cut deeper when alone

a saline stream,
