Because of DUP's NaPoWriMo and simultaneous NaPo Prompt Comp in April, Ahavati and I need time to prepare both the drawn portraits and competitions ahead of schedule

We are conducting this poll for feedback as to which poets you would like to learn about and write tributes for in our ongoing Classic Corner competition series. We hold two competitions per month and would prefer they are dedicated to a male and female poet.   The above list reflects last month's poll answers.

You may skip voting and instead recommend in a post one to three poets not listed in the poll.

Each competition, given enough entries, will encourage the Webmiss to create a theme for a poet.

Here is a list of poets we have already held challenges about and earned themes for, so keep in mind there is no point in recommending them:

Guys, we haven't forgotten about the Classic Corner.  We are exhausted after NaPo, and going to take the month of May and rest. We'll be back in June to feature Olds and Lorca!

Honestly.......
I didn't forget, i just didn't have the emotion
to do more than what i did (almost quit NaPo a few times)

I read and maybe commented but didn't have anything in the tank to learn and do something new.

I have no idea how to write like another poet -- let alone one of the past greats and so definitely a learning thing for me.

poet Anonymous

Since les Murray recently passed away maybe we could run a challenge regarding his work

I hear you about the empty tank, Tallen.  It'll take ours a bit to refill.

It's not so much about writing like another poet as it is studying and being inspired by their style, and capturing their essence.  This is where genre comes into play, i.e. Eliot's existential style vs Plath's confessional.

I can definitely add him to next month's poll, comment.  Or, you could always run one as well.

To add further for Tallen's sake, studying and then pretending to be that poet based on what you learned is a route to go. And having fun with it.

Okay, guys, this is what we've decided to do:

June:

Sharon Olds
Federico Garcia Lorca

July

E.E. Cummings
Agnes Török

Wendell Berry, Anne Sexton, T.S. Eliot, and Amy Lowell will remain on the board - we'll be adding two more male and one female poet to the voting for August.  So if there's someone you want to nominate, please do.

Attencion: We're putting the final touches on the Classic Corner edition of our website.  Each comp will look like the screenshot below.  The icons will link back to your winning poems.  If ANY previous CC winner, or current competitor, does not wish to be on featured, please message us immediately.

You can view the site updates here: http://poeticmedics.com/index.html

We've only added winners to Gibran and Addonizio as examples for you to view. We will be adding the rest this week.  It is our hope that this will give you more exposure as a writer and drive fresh members to the site.  Many of our NaPoWriMo participants experienced double and triple views on their featured NaPo Poems.

While your poetry will not be featured on our alternative social platforms - the link to our classic comps will.

A huge heads up to Johnny for working so hard to have this completed by June ( or, should I say tolerating my design preferences alterations ).
