Hi, Ghahdess - yes, there will be; except for a few modifications, they will mirror the previous two years, which can be found here:

2018
https://deepundergroundpoetry.com/forum/competitions/read/10143/#420104

2017
https://deepundergroundpoetry.com/forum/competitions/read/9560/

This will give you an idea of what to expect.

This year's adjacent prompt comp will follow the same suit as last years with the exception of a few modifications:

Dunno bout you but I'm getting nervous!

Thank you, Haley! We'll be blasting them across social networking sites as well ( with permission, of course ).  This will advertise the poet, comp, and site.

OMG! We're down to ONE HAND, Team Napo 19!

If you are considering joining this challenge, you have until midnight ( your time zone ), March 31 to register in this thread by typing, "I'm in!" and providing your country and time zone for our Dual Goddesses of Time, _shadoe_ and Amorous_Tryst.

Everyone who completes this challenge will receive a specially designed NaPo 2019 trophy.  But, more important, you will realize what you're made of as a poet. The sense of accomplishment is something that can't be compared, not to mention having a catalogue of work to fine tune!

While we all ponder the mystery of why Dug the Worm is doing a Number Two behind that Number Five, let's familiarize ourselves with some Official DUP NaPo/GloProWriMo 2019 rules ( even though ALL rules will be posted in the actual competition thread ).

One Poem Per Day Rule

and

The 24 Hour Editing Rule

Beginning April 1st in your time zone, you may begin converting any notes you jotted down prior into actual poems. You may write as many poems you care to in a single day. You could create 30 completed poems by the end of Day One. The goal of our NaPo/GloProWriMo after all is to write, write, write and end up with 30 before the competition ends with the manifestation of May 1st.

We encourage you to complete at least a few poems ahead of schedule in the event you are prevented from writing and posting for whatever reason.

You must post 1 poem per day or more specifically, per date, and no more than 1.

The only exceptions to this is if you missed a day or more. In this case, upon your return from whatever situation was preventing you, you must post a maximum of 2 poems per date until you are caught up with a written explanation stating you are doing so because of such.

This is NOT a competition to see who can finish first.

To not comply by posting less than or more than 1 poem per date is to risk disqualification ( unless you are excused prior to an anticipated unavoidable absence, while unforeseen circumstances are purely unavoidable ).

After posting any poem, you have no more than 24 hours to make any edits necessary or otherwise.

To not comply by making an edit after the 24 hour grace period has expired is to risk disqualification.

What the heck ... non-compliances risking disqualification!?

While this may sound harsh, such rules accompanied with penalties are necessary to offset the fact that our NaPo/GloProWriMo challenge is extremely flexible ( as opposed to the "standard" international challenge of writing and posting 1 poem within each 24 hour increment no matter what obstacles Life throws your way ).

As for the editing rule, that is meant for you to correct any major flaws in your post such as having forgotten to include the title, poem number or the minimum 50 unique words necessary to be considered a viable entry.

Otherwise, we don't care if your poems have typos in them. They do not have to be perfect.

This is NOT a competition to see who can write the best poem.

What matters most is that you created poems decent enough to be understood by our readers, which can be revised at any time on your own personal poetry pages to your heart's content.

The true purpose of the rule is to discourage you from obsessing over what you posted, when you could be making better use of your time.

Does this not open the door for poets to be disqualified for any or all reasons?

who decides:
"Poems decent enough"
"To be understood"
"Non-compliances"

these are important things to be explained before it begins

We only have less than 4 Days to go?! OMG! We better familiarize ourselves with more Rules ( even though ALL the Rules will be reposted in the Offifial DUP NaPo/GloProWriMo 2019 competition thread ).

50 Unique Word Rule to be monitored by yelluw_always

Every poem must contain a minimum of 50 unique words.

Contractions such as "can't" count as 1 unique word. Ampersands count as 1 unique word. One letter words such as "a" or "I" each count as 1 unique word.
Numbers such as "4" count as 1 unique word.

You can repeat any word as many times as you wish, but it will only count as 1 unique word. For example, using the word "deep" 5 times will count as 1 unique word.

The words comprising your poem's title do not count towards anything.

Title Rule to be monitored by Ahavati & JohnnyBlaze

Every poem must be titled in bold text for the NaPo team members to easily identify.

Poem Numbering Rule to be monitored by Summerrain75 & JusTim

Your poems must be sequentially numbered from 1 to 30 at the top of your postings above your titles. This is necessary because in a previous competition, participants weren't keeping count.

In Forum Posting Rule to be monitored by Ahavati & JohnnyBlaze

Your poems must be posted into the competition thread. Do not link to your poems.

You may still post your poems to your personal page and freely edit them there at any time.

This is meant to further discourage you from needlessly editing them, while ensuring "in forum edits" can be monitored by JadePandora

No "Off Topic Posting" Rule to be monitored by Ahavati & JohnnyBlaze

The actual competition thread is for entries only.

This thread is for banter, questions, silliness and congratulations "relevant to the competition".

Any needless drama posts or poems posted by unregistered DUP members will be hidden. This is an international comp that garners thousands of views and reflects on DUP.

Failure to comply with these rules runs the risk of disqualification.

There are rules to EVERY competition on DUP which, if violated, run the risk of forfeiting the trophy. This competition is no different. If you aren't going to concern yourself with reading and thus knowing the rules, then you should avoid entering any competitions. We are very flexible regarding real life situations that may hinder your ability to write and post at any given moment;   everything else is completely in your power to control.

As with our previous NaPo competitions, there are actually very few rules to be concerned with. We want you to be challenged while having fun and then be rewarded with not only a unique trophy designed by the Webmiss, but also 30 poems to add to your portfolio.

While we are providing writing prompts, you still have the complete freedom to write about anything you want. You will not be disqualified based on content or quality, with the exceptions of plagiarism of course or posting similar "copy and paste" extracted from text you yourselves did not write.

However, please use common sense regarding the content you choose to post. Your poetry, unpolished or otherwise, will be a reflection of the overall  talent being fostered by DUP. We would hate to see outside readers who are potential DUP members or even publishers turned away by material meant to garner attention purely from shock value.

While it may seem daunting to new registrants - it's really not. We promise! The large return of former registrants demonstrates that perfectly!  It is fun and supportive!  What you take a way is doubled what you give.
