I read a quote once on a photography forum that said “the goal is not to change your subjects, but for the subject to change the photographer”.

I think that’s why I read with this in mind. The goal is not to change poetry, but for the poetry to change the reader.

Makes you feel better
Also it’s the connectivity, you can relate to any poem in any number of ways…
