rainy days
are here again
flooding the plains
drowning creeks
in yesterday's debris
I watch the splashes
on the puddles
outside my window
the wind blowing
falling leaves
into the air
the comfort of you
is never too far away
I can almost hear
the gentle voice
morning greeting
sunflowers and butterflies

dust
still swirls,
their specks
reflectively float
glistening amidst
the morning sunshine
like that day
before
these hands
joint-ached
wrists and knees, too
signs of inevitable
and supposedly
of fall
fastly approaching
(or was it rain?)
when certain aches
warn
with their predictions
steeped of a particular pain
i think of laughter
and small intimate moments
unilateral, was despair
(unknown to me then)
as dense cracks
seemed to fuse
closing the depths
in an appearance
of repairing
words written
of exchanged ink
admitting dark realities
sometimes
long conversations
varying
from harsh starkness
to lightly hushed
intensely jovial
as yowls echoed
(still, i randomly hear it)
tears of laughter
-o' those sounds of promise!-
left streaming,
streaming into
the hurtful nothing
vastness that forever aches
and teams of guilt
pressed into unknown
always
bargaining away
my regret
asking over and over
impatient for a reply
forgetting
that ghosts
have no tongues
