Indomitable

sleep hides it's face
thoughts dig in
borrowing deep
into darkened bowels
whilst dragging a weary psyche

O' dance and sing!
those songs of memories
plucked from the banks
where nostalgia percolates
and idea tendrils grow
teetering on a cusp of reality

counting stars that neon flicker
with each and every denied request
of sleep that seems ethereal
mist or vapor—
perhaps of legend
with all the ample smoke that floats
J u s t ... out of reach

fingers hard grasp of emptiness
a mind swirls
riding a painted horse
'round and 'round
and up and down

nonstop streaming
of a consciousness that's wide awake
while dreaming

riding this mind's carousel

of indomitable insomnia.

there's red liquid splashed

the colours reminded me
of  lipsticks on collars
and infidelity
