I owe everything to Mary Jane.
I know I've probably dropped the cancer card on DU to many times, but to quote my oncologist, "Kimmy, you were so close to death, and have made such a remarkable recovery, you have the right to play the cancer card for the rest of your life."
With that said, let me briefly explain why I consider Mary Jane to be a saint. Six years ago, a cancerous tumor was discovered surrounding my heart. By the time they were able to stabilize me so I could take chemotherapy, the tumor spread like a claw around my throat.
Being I was diagnosed stage 4, the chemotherapy was rigorous. It caused the tumor around my heart to become inactive. But the claw around my throat was literally strangling. That's when I came closest to death.
In order to destroy it I was given the maximum radiation. My throat swelled so I could no longer eat. Worse, I could hardly drink. My doctors told me that unless I turned things around I would die.
That's when a friend introduced me to Mary. Up till then, I had never, then a couple quick tokes, tried it. The reason for my squeaky clean past is simple. I was a steel worker who worked for Cargill. For those of you who don't know, the McMillian brothers who owned Cargill during the Reagan years, we're equivalent to the Koch brothers today. They were conservative crusaders who led the, 'work drug testing movement.'. Consequently, I and my co-workers were tested randomly. So, I avoided Mary like the plague.
Being I was dying, and I had nothing to loose, I have her a try. Almost instantly, I was able to drink and my appetite came back.
Because of her, six years later I'm still here.
God Bless Mary Jane. Please, for life's sake, allow her to share her love with everyone.
And instead of worrying about her, let's concentrate on helping the 1% of us that are addicted too greed.
