How wrong can you be? It is precisely this sort of statement that causes much of the rest of the world to loathe, not envy, America. Don't get me wrong: America is a great country, and what you say about wealth and power is true. I have lived and travelled in America, and it is a country of inspiring beauty and great contrasts. But it is also home to some of the stupidest, most insular, most politically illiterate and most unlikeable people in the world, many of whom would be hard put to it to name the next state, let alone any foreign countries. You don't seem to realize, PoetWarrior, that people around the world love their own countries and way of life, and that great wealth is not the only factor that makes people find a country attractive. One of the things which makes America repellent to many is the notion of 'American Exceptionalism' which you proclaim with characteristic American boastfulness. Develop a sense of proportion and a little humility and people from other countries might begin to warm to America while not necessarily envying it.

I will not debate reality with someone so anti-American that they'd never accept the truth. All my Brit mates (ex-pats in Thailand) were Mercs in 'Nam...they've grasped the truth and know how to read the Stock Market figures and Unemployment stats. In the USA we don't have to put people on the dole forever...we WORK. Perhaps you should argue your point with some left-wing parasite (we do have some of those).
