Live Your Life
Stop believing to what other people tell you
Because nobody can make the choices or decisions
For you to begin with. Have trust in your own blue
And stormy sky. Have faith in your own visions
Of what you want your life to be like because it
It your life and nobody else’s. You are made
To stumble, fall and make mistakes. Do not fit
In and be just like everybody else. You are frayed
Around the edges, but that is perfectly okay
Because life is not neat. Live your life your way.
Because nobody can make the choices or decisions
For you to begin with. Have trust in your own blue
And stormy sky. Have faith in your own visions
Of what you want your life to be like because it
It your life and nobody else’s. You are made

What the ‘Hell’ is wrong with you? Just because you grew up outside of a small Western Wisconsin town, doesn’t mean that everyone you encounter has some clandestine motive to steal your innocent soul.
Despite what they taught you during ‘drug awareness day’, that cute little hippie chick that asked you if you'd like to share a joint is not a pusher who wants to get you hooked. She’s a hot blooded young woman who wants to make out. Don’t be such a square. No wonder it took you two more years to lose your virginity.

The burdens you have come to shoulder, were not yours to own
Carry them no more my dear as you've nothing to atone
There will be storms in life, of which you must endure
You will be greater for them, of this I will assure
Boldly sail each tempest as a challenge to embrace
You may bend but will not break; you shall transcend with grace

Don't worry, you shall be freed.
Let go of things.
You'll never see those bullies again. You'll learn why your father sometimes seemed so cruel.
All those arguments, fights and the pain will shape who you will be.
You will turn out okay, you're not devil spawn.
You will learn to write, spell and read. Maths is still a little tricky, but you'll hardly use it anyway!
Patience shall be your greatest strength.

Dear Eighteen Year Old Me.
Though they said we hadn't known each other long enough.
That nine months was too early to commit to a lifetime.
While others whispered it was probably for a baby's sake.
I wish to tell you that your decision to marry was the right one.
No baby thought or expected for 5 years and then only 2 within 10.
Daughters both, now with sons numbering 6.
Good women of strong character, loving wives and mothers.
Yes, my darling the right man was chosen, still by your side.
Encouraging each step you take and helping you up after each fall.
Perhaps had you known ahead you would not have worried so.
But, I am glad you didn't, for you may not have put forth the effort to insure we are where we are today
