FLUSHED

Unwinning cards flipping fast through the casino
slipping around sinning like a spinning ballerina
Thick fake teeth clashing while sipping cheap vino
within an endless friendless sadistic arena
I'm a fool on a stool as I lay down my pay
pushed into a pool and then flushed away
A phony baloney repeating like a parrot
and betting on the pony that's chasing a carrot
murky waters as I rise back up to the table
ready, disarmed, and prepared to disable
The agitator stirring back conflict
treating me like a returning crack addict
Don't worry about the blemish of me and my kind
just rush for the rush at the baseline
Anyone not playing should pity us, see
We're the idiom of insidious idiocy
My ballistic blunder of thunder, sweet entity,
ammunition shooting off a paradox like frost streaming from
a hothead host of a ghost in a fast blast in a beam
from an unseen being with a pistol passing through
airport security without a bleep from the metal detector
unreported, unescorted, imported to an unsettled sector
Through indecisive devices, whatever the price is
my advice is to pursue your true vices
An earthborn servant caught up in a race to soar into space
as I lay down a royal family of four, with an ace

Being alien trying to pass for an earthling in the late 50's

The blunder of your self-imposed paradox
Whenever you'd walk into the crowded shops

Merely proved the statements of others
Were without foundation.

Nothing but blemished frost in drifts of
Corny devices of space-aged baloney

Becoming stagnant conflict that beeped and
Bleeped; tin robots with ray guns blinking

That cracked into incomplete entities,
From murky concept to hand-held servant

Awaiting for the touch of a hothead
Triggered by the agitator of bright dyes.

Making the authors of such words to appear,
Addicted mouths of fast teeth, thick & fake

As plastic parrots from import shops
With endless aisles of lime green water pistols

Using faucet water for ammunition,
With piles of day-glow Frisbees & flower leis,

Pop guns and magnetic hula girls, and
Tiny ballerina music boxes,

All brought in on Piper Cubs that would land
In airports that the major airlines avoided,

That the highest caste of earth-born patronized,
And had powers to remove you with their eyes

If you caused the beam at the entrance
To go ballistic.  Of course, that was mere
Baseline compared to what happened next.

It was fun to write about those 29 words, with thanks to our host Magdalena for the opportunity, and my congratulations not only to the winners - my endless friend KDAmB, Missy & Duende - but to all who put forth an entry!

Congratulations KDAmB and Missy, well deserved... you both blew me away with your entry!

Thank you for the runner up place, Magdalena! I was so insecure about the poem, that I almost didn't enter it, so I'm really surprised... and honored! It was fun to write and a real challenge... I enjoyed reading the other entries, it's amazing what everyone did with those 29 words!
