First Voice

The harvest of your tone
sustains my ascension

Sighting imprints on a lunar eclipse
through finger bones

Their seamless secrecy
in the blood scree of craters

When I'm the first voice to
glow in nightly octaves

A gale force hastens, looking for a
new husk in which to be contained.

Exactly 50-word count

Ancient Architecture

in a city where buildings crumble
as if made on the beach
with sand hardened
by tears of heartbreak

festivals of moments
tainted by distant memories.
monuments of love
swept away
by tsunami of lies.

roads destroyed
turning pathways into mazes
while breaking will.
i'll rebuild her city of love.

Everything Ends

Motives, moving
target, missed
opportunity, knocks
loud, mouth
open, season
salt, peter
picked, last
call, me
maybe, you
ought, six
pack, up
skirt, issues
bound, determined
guilt, trap
hounds, hell
fire, whole
damn, world
map, maker
mark, place
holder, down
steam, consciousness
lost, boy
howdy, partner
crime, riddles
answered, question

Half Winged Images

We float
on rippled slip streams
in silver veins
hope glides
side to side
so purely imperfect
no imitation dragonfly
races green & blue fleck
without reflection
hailed as sacrosanct
expanse lays open & wide
cavatina
pulsating waves
never diminish
for running rivulets
they spread out arms
fingers through
forest floors
body

◇ Why ◇

Searching for a cause.
The forest seems to grow and glow in nightly octaves. Animals and insects underneath the stars. Their whispers almost constant through the thickness of the dark. Breaking only slightly by the sound of sudden lightning. Striking clear, It's light surrenders every surface everywhere. Thousand eyes and ears. Then hearing only thunder. From above but then deep under. In the coves, the echos trap and crumble. Stone that fall asunder. But still I wonder why.

I hope it's ok to post here.

Cadence of Candles (Somonka)

When my eyes met yours
I knew there would never be
enough time or ink
to compose my love for you
for the rest of our lives.

Poetry itself;
Is love, don't deprive the world
of ink, when we breath,
a new stanza is fashioned,
and our love strengthened more.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The Somonka is a Japanese form. In fact, it's basically two Tankas written as two love letters to each other (one Tanka per love letter). This form usually demands two authors, but it is possible to have a poet take on two personas.
