Dream Weaver
the breeze of you, it
musses my hair and just as
quickly is woven
throughout in the night when you
rub a lamp and magic falls
distant flurries from
the arc of galactic arms
change their colors as
you reach up to gather them
knotted into dreams for me
what have I for you
bringer of all heaven-sent
and scented as proof
to woo you stay, to have me
know your universe as mine

I was young as spring,
and held to an autumn's wind
like pomegranates
hung from the highest branches,
before black crows hollowed them
autumn flurries came
with the scent of fallen fruit,
piles of dying leaves,
dark brothers crushed underfoot,
to be shelter for next spring

it's what angels wear,
this crown of thorns, to keep them
grounded to the earth
instead of wings lifting them
out of reach from their calling
at least stay near me
trade with me your crown of storms
and your thread-bare clothes
revealing not boy nor girl
to be your guardian one
