FRIENDSHIP:  THE KISSES OF LIFE

There are a great many ways to meet new people in the world.
Life with its twists and turns and swirly-swirls
Has a way of surprising us with unexpected gifts and miracles.
Love and friendship is truly one of those God-given miracles.
It is not constitutional to be kind or sweet or even nice
Yet many friendships bloom in seconds says the wise.
And, it often starts with a shy “hello” or a radiant smile
One glimpse catches from across the aisle.

Two strangers who have never met become instant friends.
Who knew their bond would last until the very end?
And it all began with an act of kindness, the bottom line.
Whether at school, at work, or at a bar sipping wine.
Even two strangers who don’t speak the language
Understand very well the language
Of love and the speech of kindness.

In a cruel, rude world filled with hate and violence
Where people would rather reserve silence
Not to meddle into problems and trials
Kindness is a gift you give to another
And it is returned by the other.
Like a boomerang, you cannot give friendship without having it returned.
And just with a simple act of kindness, friendship is quickly discerned.

Friendship is one of life’s beautifully planted kisses
Reaching down the core of your soul granting you unspoken wishes
Repaying you for being kind in a world growing colder
As the people grow awfully angrier and bolder.
Making friends is life’s way of re-planting flowering love seeds
In a world filled with endless acres of growing weeds…:)

Dearest Friends

precious dear friends
what words to say
when you are there
only when the day is bright

when the clouds close the blue
lending grey upon the sky
you run for shelter anywhere
never looking back at my door

you are my best friends aren't you
leave me when I need you
its called tough love
so you say, but you just want to go

away from all this troubles
not wanting to know why
or what,how or when
or even care....
I know.

My Dear Friends

Even as the years have come and gone,
When we grew old, some of us grew apart,
Some of us stayed friends, and some, well…
Went their separate ways keeping secrets from the heart.

Some of us fought together and created something special,
Some went far away, never to be seen or heard of again,
Some stayed close by, but we know that as busy adults,
Life just gets in the way but I always consider you a friend.

To those I knew as a child, it’s always great hear from them,
To those I worked with, I’m happy to see them succeed,
To those who have suffered and experience heartbreak,
I only wish I could be there for you in your time of need.

Then there are those whom I marched with,
I know, here I go again talking about those glory days,
But that group of friends share something special,
The camaraderie we built can never be erased.

It’s funny how sometimes we can just pick things up,
As if time didn’t matter when we treasure those memories,
Smiling because I feel young again, my dear friends,
Laughing because that’s one of life’s best remedies.

That's Not Me

the quivering note
of the last word spoken
hanging in the silence
of the empty room

holding the pieces
of your life
of your heart
in small trembling hands

feeling unvalued
unnoticed
with no one to convince you
you’re not

losing your faith
in compassion
from others
because of its lack

I’ve seen this
I’ve felt it
I’ve been there
I know
but that’s not
the kind of friend
I am

if my friend
is going under
I’ll be
diving in

if the skies
are grey and cloudy
I’ll stand in the stillness
and hold your hand

when the sun hides
in pouring skies
I’ll dance with you
in the cleansing rain

when others may go
just quietly leave
remember...
that’s not me

friendship

What is a friendship to a
person without friends?
Running around town
trying to acquire them
knowing I'm nothing with
them, but I guess its
human nature to want to
have as many as possible.

I never thought it possible
to want the impossible,
for I have always looked to
be alone in my own
world without ever letting
anyone know how I felt.

What is a true friend?
Someone who annoys you
to no end, asking to hang
out with you all day.

How is it possible that someone
can truly care that much
about you? I say "leave me
alone" they say "no"
What the hell is going on here?
I'm not used to this
type of commitment from
someone not having skin
in the game called my name.
Maybe, just maybe I
can get used to this, but I'm
not guaranteeing anything.

Dear new friend, I appreciate
your confidence in my
own soul to care for anyone
else, now the challenge
is to actually care for someone
else, like everyone
else seems to. I can't promise
to be there for you, yet
that's enough for you to try
and befriend I, that's
fucking amazing isn't it?

What I’ve Learned

The more I learn the less I knew
my first impressions disabused
swept aside by the evidence
of the what lay below covering
in that place I found myself
looking back from mirror’s face
when I searched the depths below
for distraction to sooth my world.

I see above the master’s hands
shadow puppets up on the screen
pulled by wires invoked there
by the past shared by two
the breadth of life is now revealed
in the space of matching flames
once disconnected as the rest
now unveiled to show us same.

I thought I knew life's magic
behind the windows draped to hide
perhaps I did, but I think not
when it was I who did look back
the same in a foreign face
echoes carried by humanity
how could I have been there
when I was lost in the maze?

The search has ended, or just begun
when the mirror is turned around
there on the path I see the door
back to where I was before
what came before has been replaced
by revelations of a shining soul
I can only hint at what I’ve seen
of the less I knew, what I’ve learned.

True Friendship

Fingers always interlaced together.
Laughter spilling out of closed
Mouths. Even with stormy weather

Coming we could never feel exposed
To the glare of the sun and the strong
Winds. We know that we are supposed

To grow old together. Someone I never long
To be mad at forever. We know secrets that
Nobody understands. We go down the wrong

And right paths together. We get old and fat
Together always. While everyone else is fake
And phony we are genuine. We cut

Away the extra thorns. We promise to take
The same road, but sometimes in
Opposite directions. We complain and ache

Together. We are living in the same skin
Because we are blood sisters. We are
Connected and know where we have been.

We are seeing the same sky and star.
It does not matter if we are catching fireflies
And putting every one into a sealed jar.

As long as I get to be the one who dies
Alongside you, I will be perfectly okay.
My dear, together we will always rise

With every new and bright day
Ahead. Even with all the tears we will
Ever cry we will slay every single cliché.

P.S. This piece is dedicated to my BFF Marcia who I have been friends with since elementary school.

A friend is like a moon
It shines, even in the darkest moods
It stays, even when the world leaves you
It glows, even when you don't want them to
And it'll guide you when you're lost

Because a friend is not just a friend.
But a friend is a moon in a world full of chaos.

Unveiled

with face pressed gently into palms
tears cascade from deep seated pain

each bead trickles as if it blood
spelling to call out her name

*
glorious wings quickly extended
to take off in feverish flight

in little time she softly lands
beside me in a breeze so light

*
with eyes that cherish gazing down
loving smile upon an angelic face

the glow of sunshine brought with her
flowing locks glisten 'n dance in rays

*
gentle whispers caress and soothe
i'm wrapped tightly within embrace

cheeks then kissed with tender licks
all tears that fall are washed away

*
pressed against the warmth of her bosom
i can lie peaceful while unveiled

under the canopy of my lovely one
beneath a beautiful crimsin shade

thank you

Fuck Friends

Let's spend some time
in a trend friend the end
bend and send it to hell
you smell well of hell you
want me in a cell well spell
hell as I swell.

Tell hell you fell dwell
farewell in a shell tell
Satan to kneel for his
betrayal disgraceful I
was faithful you
shameful and hateful
so ungrateful I must be.

Unstable sitting on the
table with a fable unable
to forget April that was my
angel your lies made us die
but why?

Bye bye guy dry your cry
the sky has fallen on our
friendship hardship is here
the clear fear the puppeteer
cavalier in your ear.

Raven

you reach into my darkness
touch my tender spots
with the caress of your poetic voice

*

a gentle lilt
that eases over my soul
I'm at ease in your luscious breeze

*

you visit at midnight
with hints of seduction
take away all my pain

*

when the chill
of the raven colored night
washes over me
with melancholy

*

this is when
I see your sexy silhouette
in my mind's eye

*

I'm aroused by your carnality
you hunger to eat my hurt
cast it in the abyss

*

beautiful poetic lass
desired by many
loved by me

*

the seductress of my heart
you tame my beasts
with sensual ease

* Friendship *

a friend is much like this….

the whispers that howl
in the blowing wind
 but calms the storm
that rages within

the most gentle touch
upon your bruised skin
 and the softest light
you’d love to read in

the words under your breath
that no one has heard
and the only pen
that gets all of your words

the blank page to fill
that never runs out of space
 and unbridled laughter
that leaves an ache on your face

the coziest slippers
you always wanna wear
and the bobbie pin placed
just right in your hair

a snowflake that lands
precisely
on the tip of your tongue
 and that family photo
that finally gets hung

delicious hot chocolate
in your favorite blue mug
 a reunion that ends
with the biggest bear hug

the sweet little giggle
in the midst of a silent room
and the look of reassurance
 that couldn’t come too soon

your old photo album
with perfect worn out edges
 and the warmest embrace
 through life’s painful stages

cold fingers embracing
a cup of hot coffee
 some chocolates
some wine
and that new girlie movie

your most favorite song
when you turn on the radio
a friend…
the hand that you cling to
and never let go
