Welcome to the competition

I will give an example using one of my poems.
________________
HOPE
A northern light
A starlit night
A silver flower
A determined fighter
As the plant grows in my soul
It shouldn't be there, yet it holds
A new surge of strength grows inside, I feel faint
Before I know it, it begins
Casting all fears aside
It can hurt me, disappoint me, or
even manipulate me
But it grows
It is determined to have its way
So my body, in turn just obey
Hope takes over, a deadly sin
For when it starts it never ends.

Passion's Hope
Hope found in your face
support found in your hands
I once again feel alive
balanced between then and now.
Only in this time could I be
so close to divinity
yet a knocking is heard
in the halls of my mind.
My past has flowed away
yet a remnant is here to stay
removing me from this place
even as arms do embrace.
Begone doubt of yesteryear
shadows of lurking fears
true in their own time
now false with wheel's turn.
I've found cure in the curve
remedy in made heart made glad
deepest draught of medicine
present in your pressing form.
I'll drink you to forget
echoes only heard by me
when the song of your hands
drowns out the static of the past.
Separation has ceased to be
in drowning self's own doubt
unity excludes distraction's drone
when we are side by side.
Proximity is the chalice with
an elixir from passion's muse
here I'll be with you alone
and hope will remain with me.
Passion's Hope

sitting on the roof gives my yard a certain romance;
A romance I've wanted for a while now
a romance I still have yet to find;
I feel at peace with the world
no problems swirled
and the accompaniment of scuffed 45's make this moment all the more magical;
Sitting up here makes me want to shout to the heavens
to hell
tell the mother land I'm gonna be okay
and this rut of circumference is only temporary
that trees not having leaves is only temporary
that love,
not love of people but love of the universe,
and self worth
is so fucking important and fulfilling
I feel cold but that's okay it's only temporary
and I feel happy as the wind blows my hair in my face and it's okay that this happiness is only temporary
this atmosphere is complimentary
towards my poetic persona

It slips into the night, unnoticed
And unrequited. It takes a part
Of you to always stay focused
On your dreams. It is that start
You needed. It gives you that
Extra bit of faith when your heart
Wants to give up. You forget what
Matters in the head too. It is more
Than what you think. That rut
You get caught in becomes less sore.
Do not listen to the doubters and
Negativity. You are better than before
Your rebirth. You are never outgunned
Or not smart enough. It is your smile
That should never ask for a refund
On life. You are floating in light while
Everyone struggles to find their rope
And anchor. You should file
Away the bad. Hang onto your hope
Tightly. It is the stars in the sky.
Look through your telescope.
It is every part of your high
And never a part of your low.
It is way better than any good-bye.

bathed by moonlight
in joy they sing
for tomorrow to bring
all life's delight
together in love
they come together
to nurture their hope, the child
growing inside her
against the shadow
of the goddess' form
they offer prayers
for their healing
their hope
is the rope
to their success
a line to their tomorrows.
Hope love joy and peace is what I long for
But your smile is my first love
Only wish you'd see me behind my hideous decor
Now every day you bring me closer to what's above

Candle lit darkness
the light is gently reborn
and here, so am I
Candle lit darkness
the light is gently reborn
and here, so am I
LIGHT (carry the hope)
a feel of free falling off a bleak tone
the test results from unblinking cell phones
to know that nothing is certain, to bar
the bond between, keeping vigil afar
offered in service to me all the same
to give in sacrifice, stern by its name
how I'm moved to tears, and foolish I am
in sorrow, the fears, the wolf to the lamb
you still judge me not, yet shame me instead
beauty to care shushes me when I dread
I can't share beauty by deathwatch's light
hospital's gloom mirroring only its blight
I'd rather you see a radiance shone
of Winter's moon or golden afternoon
not in a wheelchair so soon in my plight
but lift me, carry me where e'er you light
to escape the exit and to the car
to home's front door & to bed where we are
with candle-lit suppers served on a tray
& trysts spent wrapped in warm quilts every day
till due when it comes a last resting place
while still in these arms the best of their grace
your timeless love drifts aglow with a light
from wavering flame, and unguarded sight

from my inner voice
it's foreign music
strange but beautiful

delicate notes
being picked on the wind
of understanding
carried on the stream
of consciousness

to be brought to rest
on the mossy bed
of enlightenment

where they take root
in hopes of lying in the shade
of a mighty redwood someday

I Hope
I hope you find what you’re looking for
In whatever it is that your heart desires
I hope you reach your goals
In all of what the future holds
I wish you the best of luck
With everything that in your life transpires
Never lose sight of your dream
Even when the path seems down trodden
Never lose hope in the face of uncertainty
As long as you remain true to yourself
And your purpose is never forgotten
Dare to aspire with an undying fire
And all the providence in the world will kindly be returned
Regardless of the shortfalls, be relentless in your resolve
And surely you’ll enjoy the fruits of all you’ve earned
Be passionate about your talents
Striving to find that balance
So that when you get there it’ll be that much sweeter
The road you take will have many surprises
But as long as you’re strong and decisive
Life will bless you with gifts fitting of your demeanor
I hope you find the love that you deserve
With all the happiness that lasts forever

Hope coming into you
Hope hanging along even though you're not even coherent of her song
