The Romantic Life

I'm all in for the romantic life,
I don't know of any other way.
Such a simple statement to be made,
so please allow me to explain.
My soul is buoyed by the romantic life,
to see beauty in life's wide breadth.
I'll find hope in the little things,
bulwark against life's sharp barbs.

Some say romantic ideas are fanciful,
impractical in this age of hard love.
Unrealistic is another harsh phrase
the cynics choose to banter around.
I'll differ with these unkind words,
and instead look to life affirmed.
Romance offers the path to love,
redemption of the human kind.

The two may not be the same,
love and romance can be separate,
but on the most fortunate days
they will mirror each other.
Love is raised in appreciation,
extended in passion to life's embrace.
Widespread affection is my path
to romance's arms where I'll dwell.

To court with life will be my end.
Loving beauty in romantic ways,
seeking solace in the darkest days,
I'll hope to find you in that place.
We'll dance to romance's tune,
held close in shared rejoicing.
Connection found in harmony,
romance defined by you and me.

Obsessed Over You

Like the venom,
which never kills its snake,
Your love is like the oldest wine,
which is impossible to make,
Your voice is like the Hamlin's pied piper,
which makes me desperate,
Like Krishna's flute,
which even God cannot fake.

So far away
the beaches which you walk
Yet so close      
always in my heart

Time's Defier

Time mopes and sulks, disconsolate, in his lair -
Try as he might, things just aren’t going his way.
“It shouldn’t be like this, it isn’t fair,”
He grumbles, hour by hour, day after day.
“I run the world, I bend it to my will,
If I say ‘Fall!’ things fall, if ‘Cease!’ they cease.
I freeze the seas, I lengthen winter’s chill,
I set the lengths of wars, the dates of peace.
So why does she defy my mighty power
By staying beautiful, year after year?
Her loveliness continues yet to flower;
I chide her, but she doesn’t seem to hear.”

And who is this who makes Time so irate?
Why, who else could it be? My lovely Kate.

First Aid

With my love
I tried to bind the finger of your indifference
And stem the flow of your loneliness.

Octadiddle-Tron

You can make my heart skip some beats
And that’s hard when I’m a drummer
Keeping time in mind I repeat
Losing focus is a bummer

When you glance I lose the rhythm
Not that I had much from the start
But it does something odd to me
Me thinks it syncs in with your heart

I know you may not believe me
But the things you say pull me in
Even with your slight peek or glint
I lose the pulse and so I grin

I think of it as a cadence
That measures the feeling I feel
It goes off track in your presence
Because of your lovely appeal

I can sense the fluctuations
Especially when you are near
A pattern of expectations
The pulsing dance kicks to high gear

And I mutter and I stutter
Then my heart flutters and quivers
The commotion when you‘re close by
A high like nothing else delivers

Then there’s that stare just between us
The connection raises the heat
I melt away into the groove
The way you move into that beat

I think I know what you’re thinking
A slight inkling of what you’ll do
But then the tempo picks back up
I’m just simply smitten by you

That action movie that ends to fast
That lottery ticket as you scratch it
That surprise party u thought you knew about
The smell of that new perfume you used for the 1st time
The peak of a warm day right after winter
The feeling when your waiting on a package in the mail
dad at the end of the table waiting on his baby being delivered
When your lover calls you beautiful after a bad day
when your kid calls you mommy for the 1st time
5am in the fall when the sun is rising and u feel a breeze
flowers on your desk for all your friends to see
When they remember something unexpectedly
Put all these feelings together and that's romance you see
