Dimensions fold the ghosts to me

Indifferent to my belief

If ever I should turn my eyes

Is when,once ghost,becomes alive

So I must stare, till iris bleeds

For fear I leave an opening

For once they see an open door

They're in my heart forever more...

A Ghost or a Dream

What will you do when the tides seize the day
and come to rest, and the gulls fly away.

Where will you be when the last ocean yawns,
to swallow the sky, and blot out the dawn.

Stifling the sun, plunging you into night
from torn pages of seasons in their flight.

How will you feel, will you start to regret,
your fate is seal'd to the ages, and yet—

— what if I'm real?

Sleeping and Dreaming

Struggling to stay awake
When my dreams and ghosts
Are pulling me back in.
Demons threaten to haunt
Me every time I try to open
My eyes. Chasing after
People and things that I know
Are not real. Keep me here
Where I am counting the stars
And have someone who will
Lay there with me. The guy
I really like might really kiss me.
There is no reason to be right
Or wrong. I am safe in the
Comfort of my tangled sheets
And soft pillow. Do not let the
Nightmares come along and
Scare you into believing anything
They bring. I am in my own world
With everything else fading away
Like nothing else matters.

Jadey, what a dilemma your ink posed to me - a non believer. What if? I haven't thought of that.
Thank you for your entree.

Thank you Esweller, you managed to give an otherwise scary theme a sweet echo. Contemplation noted.

Of ghostly dreams

it was from dreams
the darkened void
where fanciful thoughts emerge
they swirled together and coalesced
to form truth as mind had it

the shimmery blazing red eyes of hatred
the gnashing teeth of bitterness
the howling cries of grief
the sobbing chuckles of despair

they came together in screaming frenzy
towards the surface they shot
to form the greyness of sobbing ghosts
and stumbling ghouls haunting familiar realms

the sobbing ghosts and mumbling ghouls
they fill the minds of those in fear
of things that go bump in the night
and dragging sounds behind the walls.

Children by the Lake

They say that some nights before the full moon
You can hear her lachrymal cries in the streets
And that her voice echoes in the stillness
Calling for her children

They say that you can hear their laughter
By the water’s edge beyond the woods
But their laughter turn to ghastly screams
Drowning, drowning in horror

They say that you can see their shadows
In the old roads where no one ventures
And those who thought themselves brave
Died of fright with expressions of terror

Or that some have gone insane
Or they got sick of some disease
Unable to describe or explain
What happened in the night

They say that their spirits still prowl
And that no other creatures can be heard
Not even the wind rustles amid the trees
Until their giggles whisper in the leaves

They say your soul will shake with cold
When you hear their little voices cry
When the children knock on your door
With visions of dreaded visceral eyes

Perhaps the description of terror, as the title seems innocent
heavy words are magnifying terror, leaving the tragedies with a mysterious background.

It reminds me of the horror stories on youtube.
