Poetry Contest

Write a poem about your favorite 50's/60's/70's sex symbol
Whether if you are fan of Elizabeth Taylor or Marilyn Monroe, Raquel Welch, Farrah Fawcett or even Sophia Loren tell me what made them beautiful and explain why were they unique.

Rules:

~ Title your poem with the name of the woman you picked
~ men don't have to just write about it, women are welcome to write a tribute as well!
~ nothing too crude or too dirty!
~ you may also have a picture of the person you picked alongside your poem as well

Marilyn died for our sins

in her own words, & out of grace more so than glamour,
she revealed that her sinning did not make her a devil,
& her not sinning did not make her an angel.

she began as a small spark, & worked very hard to grow
to a candle flame; but there were moments when she was
lightning, & the stars took notice.

earth-bound angel, fashioned for wet dreams, blonde & blue.
flamboyant temptress – within her beat the heart of lonely
Norma Jean, who begged to be loved. but a man can’t hold the
delicate things, nor make captive of such beauty.

in darkened theatres, a pearlescent screen assured us that
some like it hot. it defined us, among common ball-players
& princes of fleeting royalty. she was reduced to an object,
of lust that warmed our sullen nights.

but the world was too boisterous,
& the joy she longed for, too elusive –
she could not stay.

we didn’t love her enough…

Farrah Fawcett

Mom had an ingenious plan
For her dieting inspiration
Hang Farrah Fawcett’s poster
On the fridge for motivation

But for every pound my mom lost
Poor dad, he gained at least two
For Farrah Fawcett’s seductive smile
Encouraged him to raid the fridge for food

Linda Harrison

Oh Nova, how can I write thee?
With agony and ecstasy I assume,
for you I’ll fight against all evil on
Earth and the fat sky.

Miss Stardust in a sequined bikini
beautiful and marveled neophyte.
The most alluring creature on Earth.

I live in Ape City thinking about your grace, hoping for a day when you will return to your rightful place among the flower children.

Your wiggled hips and hourglass persona mesmerize my retina, as your large brown eyes signify the pupil of my dreams.

Your cameo in those same dreams are distant like a planet to Earth, sequel re-imagining a Twentieth Century lot full of joy and stares.
