Poetry Contest Description
time for another competition
so many of us have sunk into "anonymous" grey-black ooze - perhaps reborn under newer catchier forenames - but still leaving a terrible grief for the some of us who drank their illicit words like it was bubblegum flavour lube.
what better time to get it off your chest how much you hated them?
i kid, i kid. just steal the flowers or something.
irreverent epitaphs only, please.

She listens through the air shaft
her hands tracing the space where words squatted
licking theories they scribbled on the melting walls
those bones were my mattress
their cries broke the songbirds from my head
some grew tall and others evaporated
I sit waiting to fit my shadow again
scent stained lips parting like a defiant wound
breaking windows in the house of perdition

rogue of forget
I still trail after her & her & her
who invested their strange poems in this plane of threnodies
taken from a place I have never journeyed
gladly beyond solitude.
briefly I embraced each woman
tangled in an illusion of lust & art;
I chase her & that is perceived as love
& when she has given herself to love me
my pursuit ends.
all poetry evolves to tragedy.
they are gone to other lovers
yet I linger in clandestine shadows.
my name no longer breaks their silence,
but for awhile, they loved me...

Places To Hide
The grave will be my
only refuge,
it seems.
Outside, your car
is there, lurking
in the parking lot, as
you are
in windows.
You appear out of nowhere, like
a slobbering, bouncy
kick-me dog, whenever
I crave to be alone,
which is always.
I am single, but
not available—
ever.
All done with everyone
else’s crap, but my own, and
offspring.
I prefer cremation.
No one can find me if
I’m scattered
everywhere, and
take pieces for
themselves.
For now, I
find ways to
vanish; no epitaph
necessary.

la muerte
you
came
out
split
her
she
bled
out
died
you
DOA
bloody
grey
the tube
in your
throat
brought
you back
wailing
to a life
of tears
and a father
who would
never forget
the murder

Some Fuck Plucked All The Petals From My Flower Garden
He thinks too much
about stuff
you know stuff
like belly button lint, but brain fluff
mundane factless facts
the kind that serve a triva persuit guru well
Look out the pub quiz champ has arrived
a fountain of useless info
for any to sit with mr knowledge
and sip of his wisdom
Sadly...
The ship had long set sail
he was forever left waiting
for a sense of individuality
an idea or one original thought

It Is What It Is
Hello dear frienemy,
I've been through this before;
Of hug-hug and kiss-kiss,
And where does it get you?
It's never far amiss,
These bonds of virtual,
Where some may last a day
'Cause I did not comply.
Is this all that it means,
Was I just here to help
Until I couldn't be
A twenty-hour pal?
There's no need you should fret,
You didn't do a thing.
There's others on their way
For you to use again.
And so my epitaph
Will stand here for all time
As if you even care,
Your brain is up your ass.

irish wake
he sat on the ventriloquist's lap
a hand where his spine and heart
should have been
plucked out words
from headlight eyes
and rubied lips
when the doctor prepared his transfusion
puppet asked
would it be faster if he drank it?
drip
drip
drip
code
paddles
flatline
the old fool was right
drinking is easier

dammit madame lavender you win again! everyone else, thanks for playing.
tbh, as always all your entries have been quality over quantity, which doesn't make it any easier to pick a winner. special mention to carpe-noctem whose poem was fantastic. i think you spelled pursuit wrong, (have a look at John's) but that's not why you didn't win. i'm not a red-pen monster. lav won because her poem was pretty much on topic, carefully paced and impeccably constructed. honestly i'm all about the redistribution of trophy-wealth, and she is inching towards 50, so you bet it was a fucking good poem for me to help along.
miki, you put feelings i didn't know i had into words i didn't know could be said that way.
john, it was beautiful, but on reflection, a bit fucking purple. you have a masterful way with words but no control over the xpression of your emotions. (this is the internet, i can say what i want) maybe it's the strange sense i get when reading it that the man behind it wears a fedora. idk.
jade, i really liked the spirit of your writing, but the weird almost-iambic almost-rhyme scheme put me off. if you're going to go for that sort of thing you can't do it by halves. trust me i've been there.
lobo, wolf-man after my own heart. simple, creepy and kinda cute really. a sort of tim burton identity transfusion. word economy on point. some kind of moral in the story there.
did i miss anyone?

for anyone who doesn't already know i am unable to be nicey-nice to keep equilibrium within a small community. it's a genetic condition. what i have commented is the truth according to my opinion. i am in the habit of irreverent criticism, and expect the same. you want some more detail, some discourse, get in touch.
