The Goblin Gobbbler

After Halloween is over
Thanksgiving is next
But before you serve that bird
With all the fixings
You need to consider this

Turkey’s don’t have sex
I didn’t make this up
It’s true

They are produced in test tubes
From a linage of incest
A clone of one another
A near carbon copy
That is nothing like the bird
That is found in nature

Raised by the thousands
In quarantine concentration
They have no genetic diversity
To hinder infection

With such delicate constitution
They serve as mass incubation
For a deadly bird flue
That can quickly evolve
And spread to me and you

An avian apocalypse
Ushered into this world
By Frankenturkeys
A monstrous bird

Be afraid
Be very afraid!

It’s Wednesday, and I’m Dreaming

I’ve sold all I can,
for now; remnants
of Hiroshima II, that
ended a marriage.

When the dust clears, perhaps
there will be more to
unload, or
maybe he’ll keep
the last, charred,
remains of what was.

I dipped my fingers in
their ashes, smeared
my face like a war-painted
Native Son, and cried
as I was birthed into
No-Man’s Land—the place
of truce, stripped
bare of anything
weapon-like.

Utter decimation; I kick
the dust from my shoes, taking
steps to rebuild
me,
with a few salvaged,
souvenirs, too precious
to let go.

I sleep in waves, and
dream in color—
it’s Wednesday, and
wind puffs out
the light of another day,
gone by,
survived.

I have added 2 definitions of apocalypse, in case anyone thinks I want only the biblical event, as I do not.
it can be the apocalypse of anything and the entries so far are wonderful examples. thank you

My 1st entry:

IMPETUS

It is when spirit has released its circle
into a sea of impetus.

the will of force, to start and end
a journey past, and then begin again.

Traditional spells aside,
with much to abort and to abide.

Assuage widow moon's bridge-keeper
with bribes of all you promise.

Lest you wade the murky depths
in the guise of moon's faux reflection.

Avoiding consumption, traversing
the maze of surface fires

that block the way with flotillas
of man-o-war jellyfish,

their tentacles rife with voltage
to your slithering canopy.

From the mantle of your blindness,
you sense, amid the current

a jagged danger on the far side,
brittle struts from bone of baleen

threaten sabotage to the integrity
of your shape-shifting escape.

Little-known the consequences:
no Book of Shadows to guide,

nor the written divination of runes,
nor reed scriptures from the Underworld.

The encryption simply reads that
there is nothing more, once it is begun.

Deserts of glass

Sun burns a baron waste
After Tanks cut canyons through the earth
Hastened end to the human race
The death of altruistic mirth

Valkyries dropped their toxic rocks
Turning deserts into glass
Lost in a millisecond
Extermination of the farce

Out of the forgotten concrete
Grew a buddleia
Greenery began to repopulate
Taking death back from the earth

The world will never die
We just come and go
Epochs in a blinking eye
Love as much as you can sow

AND THE MEEK SHALL INHERIT THE STICK

I can feel the end
I've no room left to bend
Straight to hell all this will send

Punitive laws effect change
Nature's ways to derange
Separate rules to estrange

Take from one give to another
If in doubt rule for the mother
Elevate the sister and hold back the brother

Just 200 years if you could read youre a witch
But that's not enough time for this kind of switch
Your rocket to the top leaves us in a ditch

If we put the hens in charge
Next door's roosters will barge
loss of women's freedom large

There'll be and end to the time
When your life was sublime
You had it all on my dime
