Poetry Contest Description
A conversational colab with a favorite poem.
New writes only
Two piece max
If you go dirty, stick to mainstream this ain't about kink (I'll hit that another time). Not sure? Hit my PM box first.
Give the title and author of the poem you're conversing with and bold/ital the pieces that are from that poem.
If using a fellow DU author's piece get their permission (if they're still an active member) before posting.
I want to see a good back and forth exchange with a favorite poem. Here's an example, and where I got the idea for the comp.
http://deepundergroundpoetry.com/poems/143719-title/
Oops, forgot to add:
For this and all of my comps I ask that you refrain from putting anything that identifies you or quoting other entries so that if I decide to send the comp to voting the judging is actually anonymous. You're free to go back and add your name/ID after the comp ends.

Birds Of Prey
(Original Poem Written by LONDON-POETS (Hydrodgones)
http://deepundergroundpoetry.com/poems/219421-bird-of-prey/
I'd forgotten lately how good you look,
Don't stare at me with those
smokey eyes
But it's still there in your pretty face.
My looks mean nothing and
would fade in time
Yet somehow you're crying out for love,
I am sorry that you have to see
this broken me
Crying so much sometimes it hurts.
I am sorry that my heartache caused
you pain
I'd forgotten how deep your soul is too, how deep it reaches the four corners of me.
If my soul could mate with
yours, It would...
I want to know and feel your touch,
Especially when at your unguarded best.
But I'm afraid to turn your golden heart
Into dust with my poisoned hand
I like it most when you don't pretend,
Pretending to put a brave face on things.
I like the way you think things through.
I wish my heart would listen to
justifications and be wielded with the
voice of reason
Sometimes I want to give you all my love,
Love comes in waves and bursts with me.
And you could make me feel complete,
So let's make love before we sleep.
If I could just love you instead, I would.
But tonight, let me share with you
My soul as shattered as it is
Let me be one with you
In body and spirit
And when the dawn has finally broken,
Take off again, embrace the day.
For you are stronger than you know,
My sometimes frightened little bird.
And when you're feeling full of fear,
I'll be here, keeping you near.
I cannot stay knowing that I am
Just a mere shadow of that person
You deserve to be with.
Let me grow back that missing piece
Of feather that had fallen off
Along with the autumn in my heart
My rare and delicate bird of prey,
Beautiful bird, I hope you stay.
Under my wing I'll hold you tight,
Making everything alright.
Fear not, my Avian Knight
For in your nest I'll build my home
Not today, but someday soon
I hope...
And I will pray for the day,
Lasting happiness lights the way.
It wont be long now,
I promise you.
My gratitude to LP (Mr.Hydrodgones) for granting me expressed permission to converse with his poem.

ANGEL’S WINGS
( a sonnet)
Original poem written from Hepcat61 (geoff the cat)
http://deepundergroundpoetry.com/poems/238922-angels-wings/
My mirrored me stares back in harshest light
May this light be a lost memory in your inner labyrinth
My beard breaks blades were never meant to shave
Let your beard tell you the truth of the years wasted
I pull my shoulders back, tear muscles tight
Head up, tonight you are a man, don’t be afraid of Lilith
And turn to show the scars of what I gave
This intimate moment smells like the pain you tasted.
A bedroom shocked in plastic water cans
All the love you made couldn’t make you drunk
With lover’s hate that permeates the room
A way to protect the nonexistent feelings
Again to feel their weight, those martyred spans
There is no weight if you send the grey clouds to junk
As tortured days, a weightless life, consume
In sleepless nights we are just eyes rather than human beings.
I chose a life that all heaven forsake
She chose a heaven that all life forsake
What heaven’s blades removed, I gave to her
Unable to accept withered promises relief
And pain’s reward, a heart she wouldn’t take
No blood deserves to run through a mistake
But soul she’d break, to love my pain prefer
No pain permits to think twice what if.
Though now chained down in weighted earthly things
When I'm absolved I know I’ll grow new wings
Though now she has no air to fly away from failed needs
When she feels beloved again, she’ll have no need to grow wings.
My gratitude to Geoff for inspiring me and let me create a conversation with his great poem.
Thank you

OLD TOM AND THE TIGER
(a nursery sonnet, original by Hepcat61)
The tiger knew no cage but “habitat”
The time that I have spent away from home
She was the queen of her half-block domain
Has never been like there and yet the same.
She’d rest in summer shade like any cat
To take me back, but limit where I'd roam,
But then would come the cold mid-winter rain
That brought me down each time the winter came.
Old Tom, would lounge as well and watch her stalk
Most times while deep in thought while I would tread
As she would pace and watch the humans stare
Ignoring humans even though I'd see,
Old Tom would stride and match her walk for walk
From shadow's movement when I'd raise my head,
And she would smile to watch his strutting there
For there you'd be, Old Tom, amusing me.
But with the rain his queen would barely stir
The bitter cold of rain would have me think
These frigid rains that made her feel so sick,
About the trees and grasslands of my birth,
So lost, then came a rustle in her fur
Before my mother's lessons were extinct,
It was Old Tom with nip and tug and lick
And since, companionship of your full worth.
Old Tom would stay and play with her awhile,
You always knew just when the time was right
He always seemed to prod his tiger’s smile.
To visit with your queen to her delight.
With my gratitude to Geoff for his permission.

he licks her smoothly shaved pussy,
💋 God I need to weed this Garden of Eden
looks up, over her undulating stomach
💋 My tummy undulates in sliiiightly bigger waves
longing to meet her eyes, then
💋 Holy Fuck his eyes!!
delves his tongue deep inside her,
💋 Mmm deep..Mami need Papi..yeah
he licks her smoothly shaved pussy,
💋 Go for it! Had a date with Gillette
in an endless loop
💋 Yeah yeah..tiny tummy again..
that goes on forever
💋 Holy! I could live in those eyes...
never believed in an afterlife
💋 I always believed in an afterlife
but if I did, this would be it
💋 This could so be it!
heaven is trapped in a gif
💋 Heaven trapped in his gaze
licking her pussy
💋 In heaven there are no pubes, lick baby
in a frozen eternity
💋 In hot cycling forever

Butterfly Effect
by VixenRouge
I wish this attraction
was a chemical reaction
I wish, I wish, I wish I wasn't a fish
a pheromone induced stupor
where the noose was a little looser
You could use it to reel me in
like a floundering grouper
and not choking out all reason
leaving it open season
I'll just ignore that your fishing license is expired
if you promise to throw me back rather than let me
flop around gasping for breath on the bank
for bad gallows humor
on what's become a tumor
For treason and crimes against your country
you shall be hung like a singing bass on the wall
then set adrift out to sea in a whiffy stinky fishy tank ...
a rampantly spreading cancer
for which death's the only answer
...while piranhas eat ... Whoa, Dude!
This is conversation is getting mighty heavy!
What happened to just pounding a few brewskis
and relaxing with me on the lake?
a final transformation
from a life of subjugation
Kay, listen up!
If you plan on ending it all right now
might I suggest a little lemon pepper
and Shake n Bake?
to a colorful fluttering start
for this flightless frightened heart
Oh .... you just want to be a butterfly?
So do I! So do I!
I wish, I wish, I wish I wasn't a fish
I wish, I wish, I wish you weren't a human
We could both be butterflies
flutterbying willy nilly through sunshiney skies
putting an end to all your silly doomin' and gloomin'

Finally.
Now I don't have to keep bugging Honeyadored about giving me back the only trophy I had.
