Mourning A Passing

“Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you”  Matthew 7:7

Jesus whispered “Ask,” so I did, and I did not always
receive the answers I had wanted, but was given
the answers that I needed,

and He sat on His throne, watching patiently, as
I rejoiced, or cried, threw tantrums and
begged at times, but eventually thanked Him for
his discretions.

Jesus whispered “Seek,” so I did, and I did not always
find what I was looking for, or what I wanted, but
I found what I was supposed to find,

and He sat at the right hand of God, covering
me with His blood, and oils of frankincense and myhrr,
that I might survive the many losses, traded, in exchange
for necessary finds.

Jesus whispered “Knock”, so I did, and the doors
that opened, did not always reveal what I wanted to
see behind them, but I saw
what had to be seen,

and He hung upon the Cross, that my own
heart might not die, for mourning the passings
of life.

Jesus whispers still, and still, I remain in
His presence, and I go on,
and He goes on,
and I go on….

The Side Road

I followed the main highway at the beginning of my life
A wife; a career and family, without undue strife.
There came a time when change was due,
The daughters grown; time to renew

We could have stayed until I retired;
But such a path was not desired.
Sell up and be self employed;
Taking risks that could be enjoyed

Making toys and country living,
Suited us without misgiving,
Gardening and house building,
Brings a warm and cosy feeling

Could my life have been fulfilling
Had I pursued my original calling
Looking back I am pleased
That the by-road was seized

Beauty And The Bitch

the wind will not serve, take to the oars. –Latin Proverb

look at her, look at her
so strong, thick stallion legs in high heel pumps
under the Nevada neon lights
succulent to the last drop of seduction in the streets
she's a professional woman
making money under the desert heat
a sight for sour eyes
she is a beauty and a beast
and she selling something savory and sweet
men pay her top dollar
and they tip her to swallow
she's a woman
a woman in the streets
she's a beauty
to the cruelty of lonely heart beats
she gives her soul for pleasure
but she still can't find peace
she's a woman
and the world is a beast
she had dreams of being beauty on the big screen
a Midwest girl with a heart beat
but under these Nevada neon lights
she sells herself cheap
life is a beauty
but life is also a bitch
beauty is a bitch
beauty and the bitch
