Poetry Contest

Write a deep poem about the true meaning of freedom
Write about the true meaning of freedom, and what it means to you. What does it really mean to be free, and when do you truly become free?
Be creative and have fun!
I have an example  of a poem that would probably win on my profile's reading list (another user's example poem) I want it to be somewhat similar.

One poem per user... Rhyme is preferred... Good luck guys, and message me for any questions...

Once again, Good luck!
I can't wait to read your poems...

Free at Last

under the shades of mangrove trees
he stood there like a sentinel
against the onrush of time
alone with fallen leaves around him

he was paused on his breath
the breathtaking vista of forever
painted on the eternal ocean
of blue like line dancers

brown leaves multi-coloured
in their last descent to earth below
sighed freedom from mother tree
return to nurture her

sighed he against his post
marking where his bones lie
freedom he knew from his coils
even from memories slowly fading

free at last
unknown unremembered.

When you're dancing in the streets
To your favorite song,
And the days feel short,
But are very long,

When you see those two boys,
Smiling hand in hand,
No longer needing to hope,
For a more free land,

When the woman whom nobody knew
Made that thought provoking speech,
Leaving everyone in shock and awe,
A rule to openly preach,

Is the moment when
Freedom truly has come,
And the dancer, couple, preacher,
Can finally blossom and fold

Into the land of the free

no longer a number

when im no longer a number
no longer an "Indian"
but not the one with the red dot
i am a person
just like you
but you cast me down
as another one of "them"
the feared people
that once were proud
we focused one the four directions
black, red, yellow, white
courage, strength, wisdom, and spirituality
but that was evil
that was wrong
but in all matters of life it
is freedom

My right to swing my fist ends where your nose begins
(This quote (or variations of it) has been attributed to several ninteenth century public figures)

Total freedom is impossible
Unless you live alone,
To the people you encounter
Respect must be shown

Rules and laws and customs
Set a compromise
To try to reconcile conflict
With freedom as the prize

Bad laws often create a bias
Making some so free
But may opress many others
To a large or small degree

Misguided laws that help no one
A good idea at the time
Should urgently be abolished
They are as bad as crime

For society to function well
Freedom must be shared
No dictators or opressors;
Democracy declared

It's great to say that you are free
when all you want is to watch TV....
...let freedom ring!
Freedom is driving as fast as you want wherever you want
walking down the street smoking a joint and drinking a beer
making moonshine and selling it
paying for a blowjob by the dumpster
stripping the tax collector naked and tying them to a goddamned tree for 14 days
until they go insane
as a warning to the next fucker that tries to rob you
driving without license, insurance, registration, safety inspection, emissions inspection
marrying as many people as you would like
Buying any goddamned thing without the STATE being involved
earning money without the STATE being involved
telling the judge he should rise when You walk into court!
Freedom?
...we can't even scratch the surface...
it's dead

- Naughty Mistress -

Part I – Love and Freedom

What I do see of the world, I see as it is,
Not, what those in power wouldst wish!
I see what canst be, the nobility of bliss,
That couldst be achieved, beyond all this.
Past this world, of limitations and rules!
That is why I bring chaos, sweet liberty,
Beyond that invented, by slavish fools…
That, speak of freedom and true dignity:
Whilst they do bind with chains, smiling.
I am not fooled: by servitude’s beguiling!
I limit myself not in love, nor in wrath…
For I love with all my being, all my soul.
And those who anger me, choose a path,
Of ice and flame, filled with much woe!
But in love is my bounty, so everlasting.
For I love many, in them I find paradise,
And the heaven I bestow is ever shining:
Unto those loved by me, in love’s rites…
Which we shall celebrate always freely!
In love, and freedom, we live zealously.

So noble, a cause: passion, compassion,
Unrestrained, unrestricted, uncensored!
Can humans love in such noble fashion?
I believe we canst, so do call me absurd.
For dreamers and visionaries oft art thus:
Mocked for their dreams, and their ideal.
I dream of freedom, and love, and lust…
And countless things, fantastic and real,
Tempered by joy, heightened by glory!
Instead of diluted by servitude or worry.

Part II – Grail of Idolatry

I am the grail of thy idolatry and belief.
Whosoever: shall drink, from my lips…
Those same, shall know an end to grief,
And salvation in my kiss, which so sips!
Which drinks of love, with equal zeal…
To the zealousness of passion’s promise,
The fire of a lover’s arms, to hotly feel!
Love, unchained, beyond all that exists,
Is the sweetest inferno, one may burn in.
I bring no damnation, nor do I condemn!
No hell of pain and damnation certainly,
But something ecstatic, that blessed sin!
This is what I offer, of love, for eternity:
Heaven without; a new paradise within!
If sin it be to love without any bounds…
No walls to keep from the edge of glory,
Those who worship love’s holy ground!
The temple of pleasure, seat of divinity,
If wicked it be to bow before happiness:
Then call me wicked, naughty mistress!

Dress me up like a doll in frills and lace,
Lover mine, and mayhap we might play!
Caress me, everywhere; look at my face,
And see in mine eyes a truly divine way.
The leather of my most noble teachings,
Covers thy heart, but never binds it hard.
It sets thee free with tenderness reaching,
For greater glories, fettered by no ward…
Lest love be constrained, and thus so fail.
I am the sweet release for which ye wail!

Part III – Lash of Passion

Lover mine, shall my tongue lash thee?
And if it doth, will not love follow suit!
When kisses fall like rain, for all to see,
It is because we taste a forbidden fruit…
And something in it stirs the maelstrom.
Drown in me lover, and know thy ease!
I am flame and mine arms are so warm,
So welcoming, that in them is a peace…
More lasting than all the treaties drafted:
By weavers of dreams that never lasted!
I care not for politics, or power wasted,
On promises never kept, bonds broken!
Love’s power, is greater, and not hated.
Not bound in false treaty or fake token!
My love is real, my passions art sincere.
And if I die a martyr for a noble cause…
For love and liberty it be, drawing near,
To angelic selflessness, without pause!
Doth that make me a truly naughty girl?
Then lash me with kisses in mad whirl.

Even in our hot sport, is innocence yet!
For, even naughty love is oft the purest.
More honest than any tainted by regret,
And so, my way is oft plain and honest.
I offer it freely, holding nothing back…
Drink, from the chalice, and be reborn!
Whether in white lace or leather black,
The love I give is pure as a dewy morn.
Come unto me, and know abundance…
For my love will lead to transcendence.

Freedom is being
able to find your own way
to god as you see
Him her it them universe
Without priests interference

Freedom is being
able to love whom you will
Allowing for age
And consanguinity
honor them with legal bonds

Freedom is knowing
That the quality of school
Does not depend on
local government fools
And liars every one

"Pass On True Freedom"

The fear of wrongdoing
Set ablaze in brimstone and fire
Unbind indulgence first
Pass on the freedom to desire
Only when a choice is made
Can truth set a soul free from the liar
Virtue stagnates in church
When lessons are preached to the choir

The fence before trespass
Constructs a mountain to trust sought
Hands tied behind the front
Holding back sin but not the thought
With no choices to make
The battle of innocence un-fought
Leads not to temptation
But further from the lessons untaught

FreeMan

A turbine heart siping from a mug of serene
A troubled soul sedated with a resuscitative caffeine
Listen to the mind while it mourns
Self slave, a caged conscience
Trapped in the buds of emotional sense
Relieve brawls in the throats cave and groans

But what is Freedom?
What does it mean to be a free one?
Ask Mandela for it's meaning,
He'd pro'bly tell you 27 versions
Maybe none, if he hadn't stood for his Nation
Or worse, swahili voices 'll still be weeping
But like escaped birds
Like a king dreaming on his bed
Awakened like dew in the morning
The slaves in joy, alouds their hearts
They rose to their feet and rolled their mats
Echeos from the gong of liberty Springing

I'm yet to see freedom beyond my door
Not until I see a dine of a prey and it's predator
When we live and abide to no law
When right and wrong doesn't exist
I'll be free to punch my nose with my fist
And pinch my foes with my claws
Freedom is when I'm named a freeman
When I'm seen beyond a blackman
When I look at the white man with no flaw
We stare at each other with no stigma of skin colour
We do not irritate each other like some body odour
We stand in reverence of all

Above all, freedom isn't being free from a cage
Freedom isn't opening your lifes new page
Freedom is a mindset of ones breath of relieve ...
