Poetry Contest

Write a short poem on any subject then write a second using the same theme or storyline but a different poetic form
Examples of what I mean:-

Autumn Sunset 1
The bright sky's aglow with sunset
Its orange and gold awash in the blue.

The billowing clouds roll on to the scene
with linings of gold above a dark hue.

Autumn Sunset 2
The sun is setting in the sky
The clouds are scuding very high
Pink, orange and gold
Beautiful to behold
Another day bids us goodbye
--------------------------
Courtship1
He gently courted a young lass
Gifts, compliments and kisses;
Her response did surpass
His hopeful prior wishes

Courtship2
Going Gently
Greeting  Genially
Gliding Gracefully

Giving Graciously
Gifting Gladly
Getting Gratefully
---------------
Please keep poems short.
New or old;
As many as you like

The monster 1

the ever present void
that spirals into darkness
basically its nothing new
it happens to me
it happens to you.

Monster 2
This thing inside
it happens to me
it happens to you
the darkness manifests
into a void
that cant be filled
the voice
that cant be killed.

Laugh until you ...

(senryu)

if i were a man
i'd stay humbled at your feet
kissing your sweet soul

(free verse)

When I suck your toes
And tickle your feet with my tongue
I'm also healing the wounds I've left
when I've foolishly dropped the crystal
that is your heart.

Your sole cut from the broken shards.

Let me heal the wounds
so that I may lie beside you
and inside you once again.

(I hope this is will suffice, at least it's how I interpreted it. If I've misread your directions and anything needs to be changed or tweaked let me know GL).

Seasonal Trysts Duo

...the Mouths of Babes (1 Summer)

with a feathered touch
he cradled my head
in his hands;
"It's like a dandelion
      close your eyes,
               make a wish,
                            and
                                just
                                     blow."

Melting Icicles (2 Winter)

a midwinter's artist
surrendered cold shoulders
and painted my belly
with his snowflakes

Miss G ... I usually don't like to add chatter to a competition thread but those were excellent! Bravo!

PLURAL

the human races
color
separates us
infuriates us
words
divide us
suicide us
violence
drives us
deprives us
if
peace
provides us
guides us
actions
enlight us
unite us
color
eludes us
includes us
the human race

SOME

i want to see faces
with no traces
of the places
their from

you're from here
i'm from there
this isn't fair
it's dumb

my castle is tall
your portion is small
get against the wall
you bum

we shouldn't use pigment
to label indignant
our souls get malignant
and numb

if we could build paradise
it would have to be nice
don't even think twice
just come

violence will stall
prejudice will fall
there will be justice for all
not some

COUNTERPART

i
in the deepest empty
see
no need for sypm
or empathy
no reason for re
or interaction
from my distrust
you're of no distraction
our separate lives are
a matter of faction

DISTANCE

a separate entity
comfortable alone
seeking no identity
an empty vicinity
no foreign light shone
solitaire ability

For Kathy (1)

You made a mainland
Of my archipelago;
When I drifted
You gave me direction;
Your face in the crowd
Smiled at me.

For Kathy(2)

Time’s defier

Time mopes and sulks, disconsolate, in his lair -
Try as he might, things just aren’t going his way.
“It shouldn’t be like this, it isn’t fair,”
He grumbles, hour by hour, day after day.
“I run the world, I bend it to my will,
If I say ‘Fall!’ things fall, if ‘Cease!’ they cease.
I freeze the seas, I lengthen winter’s chill,
I set the lengths of wars, the dates of peace.
So why does she defy my mighty power
By staying beautiful, year after year?
Her loveliness continues yet to flower;
I chide her, but she doesn’t seem to hear.”

And who is this who makes Time so irate?
Why, who else could it be? My lovely Kate.

- Daughter of the Night -

Behold you now me…
This is who I am and who I have always been!
Just a girl by the window: waiting for midnight,
Deep in silence, bearing a cross of others’ sin.
Gazing to darkness, ignoring all evil and spite!
Craving no light, for the cruel used it against me.
Only night could offer comfort yet to my soul!
I stand revealed: by the window, for all to see.
My feet do not waver, the dark does console…
Comforting, washing away the tears of the past.
Daughter of the Night I became; cry no more!
My breast feels no pain, my voice must laugh…
Once I was broken beyond, to my very core.
Now I stand like a sentinel, surveying a world,
Which must accept me; my will demands this…
Once childish, now I walk a beautiful course.
I became an ideal, of glory, and of pure bliss…
One day all will be as it was when I was loved.
When the ancients called goddess and queen!
Beyond black skies that gather so near above,
My will goes forth, to create my noble dream.
I am eternal, for I am She!

- Sister of the Light -

This is who I am…
Young in body, ancient in spirit: sad and lonely.
Outside the window I can hear tree branches…
Scratching as if to remind me of times gone by.
But I have put the past aside, the better to see,
Though, so imperfect are my heart’s defenses!
The light of the moon, comforts from the sky…
Illumination from that light fills my windowpane.
My determined gaze looks out with all my will!
And my tears, I do not allow to fall, as before,
When they pierced my breast in barbs of pain.
Sister of the Light I once was, but the sad chill,
Caused by solitude, brought me to this shore…
Where I stand as a guardian of all I care about.
I dare not leave to chance that I might be hurt!
And so I bring the light to me, with but a song.
I am its’ sister, and my mind is freed of doubt!
Worlds are born in my soul in a creative spurt,
But I cannot create love without going wrong…
So love must come to me, so time may renew.
Let passion, thus ensue…
Will you take my hand?
