How many entry allowed by author? Old haiku allowed or only new?
Just a comment about the text you give as example : it is not an haiku, because not respecting the sequence 5-7-5. Your example had a sequence of 6-8-5!!!!!

I agree with Malin and Miss Chiyo...let's honor the tradition of the original Japanese haiku in its 5/7/5 syllable format for a total of 17 syllables. The haikus that we are reading today are English translations of the original Japanese haikus in which the syllables are either lost or added.

If not in 5/7/5 syllable format, then it's just a trestet. Just my 2 cents...
