why does darkness prevail

The Beast Within
It's spirit hides deep within me
i hear it's whispers from the dark
cruel emotions that rule so fiercely
the damage done has left it's mark
My fear and anger are intertwined
the beast within pulls the strings
like a puppet for the mastermind
a slave to the darkness that it brings

Its my lust for power.
My lust for peace.
Its my cage made of sticks and bones.
I am the animal that growls for its sweet release.
I came from the womb of an angel.
While my master was a demon.
I bare fangs of vemon.
I pull on chains of life and death.
And lead my loved ones to their utter defeat.
I am indeed a true creature.
As the blood of my foes cover my hands.
I sense my soul fading away in the black.
My lust for peace.

Into the shadows of sorrow and despair I was born.
Baptized through the stinging fire of abuse and neglect,
My only companion loneliness at my side, steered me into the darkness
Away from the judging stares and stabbing jabs of my captors, my family,
To suffer indignities where no one could hear me cry
For the help that never came

I close the gates to imagination
giving life to what hides within.
Behind these eyes lies trepidation.
I begin to dream again.
Stitching, sewing these bits of flesh,
I make these monsters horrors best.
Unconscious creator with a bestiary skull.
Overflowing with the darkness and drowning all my foes.

Stop these voices once they start,
Can't stop the demons in the dark,
No night,
No day,
Can take this away,
I'm plagued by the things they say,
The shadows lurk in my wake,
A marriage of fates,
They wait for me there,
The realization of all my fear.
