Poetry Contest

Write about any aspect of nature that is just....beautiful

"All you need in life to lift your spirit is to take a moment to gaze at nature's beauty"

After recently coming out of my funk, I've been happy and somewhat grateful about nature & life and everything in it,nature's beauty can be easily missed.

* Nature ranging from the physical world, and also to life in general also from the subatomic to the cosmic.

* Poems,Prose,Haiku,Limericks & Ballads (lets not limit what you ca do)

* Old or new entries, up to 2 entries per person

* You have Two weeks

* btw....I just realized that I butchered the title... (fixed)

sine nomine

it is in the mountains. in the ocean.
it is in the rain. in the fire
and in the dynamic of the animals.
fierce eyes of the wolf. antlers of the mighty elk.
the buffalo. who cracks the earth
when he runs. and makes thunder.

it is metaphysical light. it is all color.
the blue of sky. the green of leaf.
sands of a beach. of a desert. sands of time.
that which is mythic. magical. mystery.
I cannot name it, as it is without a name.
it is without a name, to be free.

to be greater than the named things.
it is given to the spirit.
to make the spirit immortal.
it is greater than the vastness of the universe.
and it is small. to live in
a man’s heart. a woman’s heart.

it is in me. in my arms.
when I hold you.

Spinning in Slipstream Galaxies

Within froth whirls of Akasha,
when the fabulous nebulae
blink for an eternity, a vortex
twin loops in amber flow.

Here the weight of souls
is breathed east of star rise
and the eye of the Void wells
up in an abundance of tides.

Find me in upper Samudra,
shed of Kālī’s mercy, my joy
spinning in slipstream galaxies
at the edge of expanding time.

Sinking torrents of dust glow
will pull you under — the Rigvedic
ships have long passed, Beloved.
In this moment, swim with me…

[color=Green]Beltane's Tree

Turns the year,the seasons circle,
Vibrant, verdant life returns
Beneath the fertile, fecund field--
Roots anchor deep in rain-drenched soil.

In each new leaf unfurled,
Throughout every brittle winter branch,
Joy and vitality gradually flow--
Sagacious, stretching they reach forward.

In supplication to the heavens,
Arthritic fingers seek the sun--
Life-sustaining, heat-bathing
The gnarled, twisted aging trunk,
Battle-scarred by lightning's rapiers
And lover's tattooed tributes.

A gentle breeze sighs and whispers,
Dappled sunlight patterns shift--
As leaves applaud day's re-creation,
Fragile ivory flowers tremble;
Blossom-scented silence broken--
The bees' buzz, thrums.

Emerald hearts and chartreuse spirits,
Their youthful souls with Nature meshed--
A gentle, jocund being watches
Young lovers bound by Beltane's spell.

Cave

Damp riddles the walls.

Earth is fighting her way in
and I'm powerless
against the divide

so I listened,
and heard her breathing
through porous lungs

as she tried to sing,
yet only vomited
in to the dark.

She's an undead lover,
with distinct taste
so I'm told

Jealous.
Omnipresent.
A spider in the web.

I tried to talk to her once,
held out my hand
to receive thin fingers-

watched her green eyes
shrink back
into charcoal frowns

as she fell to her knees
claiming sanctuary
in the caverns

underground.

Indexing Irises

There's a band
of red
touched
by some yellow
the day is nearly dead
it glows
against the hollow
she's my flexible friend
all birds
they love to wallow
atmospheric , extend
right through
to tomorrow .

Horses
in the field
new dawnings
are to be
picked out
spectrum hills
adorned
by daffodills .

I look
and I find this
my eyes a book
indexing , irises
looking up
to a higher place
but I'm stuck
by my fireplace
I bid you luck
finding your
happy place .

Age Old Song

The silent night is under the watchful eye of old man moon.
Old man moon is being watched by six bright eyes,
hoping for the joy to be beginning soon.
They eagerly await  their father to begin that age old song from the beginning of time.
That sweet lonely sound, never changed for a thousand years, not a word to remember, just a beautiful rhyme.

For ages and ages the wolves have sang it every night.
"Hello old man moon, you're such a special sight,
Thank you for watching over us with your beautiful light!"

When my children and I were all still young,
we pretended to be wolves and howled at the Moon.
We felt as if we understood all about life and we all knew how the song should be sung.
What a wonderful time,
What a wonderful tune,
Out in the Field howling at the moon.

For my Precious Little Girl, The Sweetest Howler of All.

Fragrant Intentions

Intercepted from the gentle breeze.
Held a moment for my own indulgence,
before being released with a smile.
The fragrant effort of the blossom to complete
an intimate affair with a neighbor.
Shares intentions that were meant to Bee.

your sword seeks an enemy
rest by this tree instead
for your enemy
if you but knew lives inside your head

you’ve fallen down and your crown
like friends is lost and gone
but that crown
if you but knew was ne’er as gold as sun

your shield fields another’s blow
howls with ice and sleet
but that blow
if you but knew blew you to your feet

you’re naked now and all alone
nothing with nought but you
and that alone
if you but knew was all that was ever true

Waking Within

a haunting silence.. but the caw of crows
red and gold leaves float to the ground
crisp is the air with memories.. time slows
lost in reminisce, love, death and living bound
dreams, visions within seasons never shy
listen within the world, left within found

walking through the woods on an Autumn day
cool with the wind blows as colors collide
from the path.. my mind wanders, the past gray
with the sky, what lies ahead as clouds glide
all moving, changing.. the coming Winter
the present holds an anticipation
coming life, struggles and strife within her
something new.. listening one

rain drops smack the leaves.. waking me alive
treading through.. a branch breaks.. quiet heard
the bark of a tree I touch.. my soul sighs
all my senses bite and pour.. silence were
standing in the rain, wet kissing my skin
awkward cadence hums low, rustling and stirs
alone no more, my tears of joy within
whirling leaves enhanced.. touching of a tease
through my hands and hair.. vibrations.. wind
melodies in color dance, a cold breeze sings

slow water pretends.. they're washing away
crying their need, finding to bleed.. their door
falling, floating.. shimmering flecks soon fade
dripping dreams promise more melting mirrors
sensitive light.. peeking through, shadows bold
colors washed and cleansed.. reflections bend more
interpret within my heart, as my soul
so slides and builds.. across a bridge imagined
filtering rays.. piercing the canopy
spears of warmth finding earth, so small pools grin
bouncing light, laughing low.. so slow they breathe

of flecks of fire teasing the golden red
acorns gather below, beneath limbs to grow
stretching.. listening long of whispers said
calling back, hearing heart.. her somber show
brown and auburn blend with dirt and decay
black sits around a tree, sharp thorns.. beware
against pools of silver mirrors through gray
droplets cascading, stopping wet to share
collected tears her birth.. beginning age
so slow in time.. spreading wood, she is old
running shadows sway a silhouetted stage
smelling smoke, seeking warmth.. pushing the cold

away I'm in.. pulse and feel all about
visions meld, bleed and envelope to fold
floating, spinning so.. slow space.. silent shout
contrasting light, opaque trunks.. standing strength
this journey lives.. now, as I understand
hanging strange, familiar flow.. desired sense
grasping, holding.. searching now.. who I am
as I move.. a crow flies.. stealing away
wonders woven, wanting slowly.. I trust
bearer of what will come, guardian prays
seasons change.. night now slides.. time rolls to dusk
cool air curls.. I'm alive.. part of this world
worrying no more why.. time.. my journey's soul
again clear.. stars descend near now.. jewels proud
lifting my arms to the sky.. absorbed whole
