Poetry Contest

Here it is--the final smackdown for the Superheroes winners and Villains winners!
This comp is for the following 6 winners of mine and Anna's comps:

Diddi
Gypsy Red
Kou-Indigo
Alexander Case
Braggman/Steve
Balefulmavolence

Congrats to all of you, you placed first, second, and third in the other comps, and Anna and I invite you to face off for the ultimate win here!

So, I'll message all of you to make sure you see this, and you have one week to write one poem each about going to battle/war or Armageddon/end of the world, since you're battling it out against each other for the top honors.

Anna and I will decide the winners along with anyone else who would like to PM us their votes, and since this comp is open to just the above 6 members, the rest of you start thinking about your own poem about the same subject--as soon as I can start another comp, I'll be putting one up for everyone on war/Armageddon/end of the world, so you have a head start on getting yours ready.

Good luck to all, and may the challenge begin!

Epitaph For The World

Avalanches of time rocks gather
in ancient lime state flocks
as the violin sky unlocks
releasing its corrosive weather .

The spinning , burning
flaming , war fire ring
how long
before its man kinds last rite song
how long
before the final analogue dong
the sound of the eastern gong .

Oil, ticking
the toil
starts slicking
mad Colonels are sickening
upon this rock
we just wait for the wave of shock .

Separatists
terrorists
hostage holding
rebel fists
religious
unindigenous
fundamentalists
sunburst colours crash through the mist
desert soldiers lie dead in the dust .

Broken bricks
burnt out wicks
a child stands crying in the eclipse
a world sits sighing
at TV's of blitz .
Vacant baby eyes
of sufferage
no yule tide surprise
at the orphanage .

An abandoned teddy bear
against a blood smeared kerb
a distant unclear
perturbed, smouldering Serb .
Artillery fire balls burning the air
in a glare
to sadden
Armistice or Armageddon
could it end or will it happen .

Freedom fighters
IRA bombers
semtex lighters
standing outside Harrods .
No more seas
and weathered rocks
ageing trees or building blocks
theres just the stagnant shattered faces
of a world and its dead clocks .

Oh heck. The site comes up and I discover I have committed myself to more work. Should have read the rules on the contest that I didn't enter. Madame, any chance of bumping the date out a bit since the site was down and some of us may just be finding this out?

I second that, I just found out and also have other commitments for the weekend. Sorry to be a pain in the neck MadameLavender.

Yes--thanks!  I was just going to post that in here as an extension due to the site being down.  How about we say one poem each, and have them in by August 1st, end of the day?   That way, it's 2 days past the deadline and everyone won't be too stressed writing more than one--it's just to finish up the silliness of the other two comps.  Is that enough time for everyone or do you want me to go out further?  :)

VIDEO POEM: http://deepundergroundpoetry.com/poems/119533-this-is-how-it-will-end/

This Is How It Will End

They rise up
from the underground
climbing the decaying corpse
of the frontline
weapons of verse
forged on anvil minds
striking tongues
hammer blows in sequential time
bullets exhaled from their lips
head shots
bloodshed spells poetic bliss.

Soldiers of the underground
march in perfect order
beautiful killers in formation
salute the firing lines
defiled peace keepers
broken love makers
battle hardened dictators
now amassed
to end it all
this bloody war
anger fusion
endowed atomic force
splitting denotation
arming warheads
fingers itch
ready to
drop
the
F-Bombs
on the failures of humanity.

Har Megiddo הר מגידו

http://deepundergroundpoetry.com/images/uploads/poemimages/46327.jpg

In a time that is yet to come
on an ancient battle plane,
Har Megiddo is the chosen one
foretold to be the terrain.

The word will be the weapon
cleansing what has become profane,
this coming will be the second,
heralding the dawn of the final campaign.

The warriors are carefully chosen,
light and dark are the sides they claim,
the ranks filled with the denizen,
yet the losses will be a woeful shame.

Where will you be at this time,
will the mark of darkness be displayed?
I look towards life beyond this wartime,
the rapture promised after this crusade.

After all is said and done
all left standing will be,
the same and as one
as far as the eye can see.

"Dark angel"
A new daybreak
A new day to think
Of all of those who oppose me still
And how I shall rise against
I've had blood before,
and now I want more
To pronounce dark
and evoke my wings
To show everyone
How the dark does
terrible things.
Emit screams
and listen as blood
trickles in streams
I'll eject my dark supernova
upon everyone in harms way
Coloring the stars black
and the sky white
I'll be the new born plague
that wipes out everyone in my way
No legions can stop me now
not with words, not with light
I envision my fail safe
And to what is right
Dark angels will ascend
upon all who resist
Tides will reset
Fire will spread
I'll be laughing
at all of my twisted sins
Tell me now
Who the true villain is

Help Anna and myself, do the judging!  PM me with your choice after everyone has submitted their entries.  (And start getting your own Armageddon poem together--as soon as I can start another comp, I'm putting up the same topic for everyone)

You need to write a poem and enter it an open competition, just not this particular one, as it's a finalization of two previous competitions.
