Crazy World (Acrostic-tanka)

Cowards of the night
Rambling about their lost fight
About liberty
Zany actions of protest
Yield nothing but ridicules

Party opinion
Equate violence with guns
Against another
Control and regulations
Energized debates on-going

Make laws difficult
Against gun acquisition
Killing could go down
Enjoy peace and harmony
Respect the law of the land

Weird and mixed feelings
Of isolation displayed
Razed state of mind
Leads to evil intentions
Dying without noble cause

Gone With The Gun

Senseless killings beyond my comprehension
A human tragedy without apprehension
The whole nation mourns so does the heaven
Gloomy days shrouded the yuletide season

Young lives were gone because of a gun
How many more shall perish before it's gone
Many hearts were filled with grief and broken
Memories were etched on our souls as a token

Gun control and regulations became a loud cry
Some lawmakers agreed - it's worth a try
But for an association who likes to keep it high
More guns will keep us safe and dry

"The only thing that stops a bad guy with a gun,
someone said, is a good guy with a gun."
Seems like Buffalo Bill in the days of Deadwood
Also blamed media, video games and Hollywood

While the debates are going on
More lives will never see another dawn
Will I live to see the day
that everyone lives in harmony?

Weigh-in your fifty-cent opinion
Before anyone goes into oblivion
On the pros and cons of gun control
As well as an armed posse patrol

Do guns really kill people or people kill people?

THE NATIONAL RIFLE ASSOCIATION (NRA)

The NRA

Thinks

We are living

Before the civil war

Which was not civil!

No war is!!!!!

So the RIGHT TO BEAR ARMS

Is the NRA’s goal

Even if innocent children

Get killed everyday

For no other reason

Than they went astray

Got lost

Accidently

Stepped

On

Your

Property

A MAN’S HOME IS HIS CASTLE

He must defend

His overlarge home

His gas-guzzling car

His huge wasteful garbage

From this boy

Who got lost

As many people do

If I step on your property

Will you think I am attacking you?

Shoot first

Ask questions later

THE STAND YOUR GROUND LAW

Will let you off

Not-guilty said the judge

We have not heard

From the boy’s mother

The papers said

Her son got lost easily

Trusted other people

He was going to ask directions

To go home

To home

He went

To God, the Father

A martyr to all

Soon to be forgotten

By the next shooting

Of the wrong person

In a wrong place

Bury me with my guns

This violence life we have forsaken,
Cheated of their youth
We turned lies into truth.
Justice has been painted green
Become a freedom of choice,
Now that death comes
In many ways guns are not the only way;
Give me my knife or
A bat even my car will do
A mother able to use a tub of water
Steals the youth of her five
Then for us to set her free.
So let the beatings begin
Give me some rope I will hang that man
High in a tree that should not be
Distributor of pain your loss becomes
My gain Justice, Justice has become loss,
Independence is limited
No freedom of choice as we
hunger after Independence it lengthen
Freedom rings, Freedom of speech only in the words that they will bend
It’s the terrible silence that will stop us;
we planting the seeds of hate
It's pure black that is looking clear.

Death of man.

Death of man come by the act of a mans hand
we cry for all this craziness to stop
by looking in all the wrongs spots
behind bars for life what a joke
death row is whats right
eye for a eye is what I say on this day.

In these day for which we live
criminal end up with all the rights
lawyers fight out in court room
for all to see
But behind close doors deals are being made

Burn the guns if it lets you sleep tonight
so that only the criminals end up with them all

Give me Eastwood or John Wayne they will get it right
Victims will be Victims unless they stand up for
their rights

Guns are useless metal without the man that makes them right
so say all you want, stay blind to life for what killing us all
for its the act of man with his hands that will take us all.

Point well taken, Kingdom-darkness...my grandfather fought his war with just bare hands and a stick and he lived to tell his story!

A knife in one hand, oh the damage i could do,
The lives I could take, the blood how it would spew.
I look to the other and its a gun that I hold,
THe steel so shiney, heavy and cold.
The mass destruction, mass production and mass publication,
and when the going gets tough, one click and its self elimination.
Nobody to answer to, nobody to run from, nobody to fear,
I look in the mirror and I start to tear.
No note would I leave, no reason for my destruction
only one way to have stopped me, reduce the seduction.
It was all to easy for me to get hold of this weapon,
ma had it stored right next to her strapon.

A coward im not and a life I can't take, but these laws are a joke
why cant the NRA realte.
Rallies pop up, moments after destruction,
no mourning for the sad, just talk about tax deductions.
I protect my home, wife and kids, and the alarm will sound
if somebody wants to come in.
an eye for an eye is something that would fail,
justice would be served by those already in jail.
Each their own person, and minds to one each,
the lives of a child, is something they dont preach.
I hate guns, bombs, and all that destructs,
why not focus our energy and help our race reconstruct.
Stop the violence stop the madness stop the killing which seems endless,
Its only one step but one gun makes many friendless.

"American Soil"

There’s American blood on American soil
Closed eyes reflecting the stain of red rain
Burning breeze waves glory atop a flag pole
The scent of rose rake senses with thorns of pain

Columbus discovered slavery and slaughter
Frontiersmen and cowboys we love to revere
Followed in his footsteps from sea to shining sea
So that everyone not white would live in deadly fear

Spilling souls over five centuries
Speaking the science of demise with every last breath
The sword advances to cauterize its wound
Cutting through the bandage between life and death

The time was when only men learned to forget
Tears wept by children of the ungodly enemy
When boys went to school to learn patriotism
Following the trail to the land of the free

At bus stops along the road weapons appeared
Classrooms became the history lessons they taught
With guns in hands that hormones control
Will they live to remember the reasons they fought?

Still war is waged convinced the next is the last
Believing the Lord will forgive their trespass
Failing to look and see who’s been left behind
School is left to teach Death is a grade no child can pass

I hope it's ok to enter an old poem. I wrote that almost 4 years ago. The more things change, the more they stay the same... JJ

The problem wit fighting fire with fire comes when there is a drought of sanity. Instead of a controlled burn, it becomes a raging forest fire that burns until there is no more fuel to ignite. Guns will continue to fire until there are either no more guns or no more people to pull thier triggers.

There was a time when people carried guns on rheir hips, and yet people still used them to kill each other, even have duels in the streets to settle differences. They used them to comit robberies and murders and all sorts of crimes. And yet, NRA members will try to convince you that we should go back to those days because people won't shoot each other out of fear of other gun carriors.

NO, what they will do is practice being the fastest gun in the land and becoming a better killing machine. Not only do they want handguns they can carry on their hips, but hide under thier coats and have clips and magazines with enough bullets already loaded and ready to blow away dozens of people without so much as a 10 second delay to reload. All that will ensure is that no one can get away and escape death!

I don't want to control guns, I want to control humanity, or rather inhumanity. Normally I would leave that up to God, but frankly, God's done a sucky job of that up to now. Well, there was this one time, lots of water and just a handful of human survivors left to repopulate the world. But as it turns out, Noah's family carried the genetic code for hatred and greed within them and passed it on to all future generations.

The only way to get a handle on gun violence is to get a grip on the violence within us. If we had self-control, there would be no need for gun control. There would be no need for guns at all, if there was no fear, greed or pride. If we could stop loving hatred and feeding our prejudices, we would all be equal and truly free. And only then would freedom be free...

“Tossing Pebbles”

Semantic-killers we are,
arguing the gun details,
as we spin out of control.
Politics, schmolitics,
smoke-and-mirror tricks,
we’re all a bit too
frantic these days,
pointing fingers at each other
when it’s business as usual
in the big house,
our government
I should say.
Let’s think about it people.
It ain’t just guns that kill,
there’s a wide range
of inhumane methods
to get the job done.
Screwdrivers and knives,
some have used poison,
others acid to do their evil deeds.
You can get your artery cut by shank
or be slipped harmful chemicals,
like anti-freeze, Geez that’s bad.
From fertilizers and rope
to hammers and chainsaws,
they can do some major damage,
put you six feet under.
Gasoline can make your day
when it’s poured on you and lit.
Shit, what about hedge trimmers or pencils,
baseball bats, crowbars and crossbows,
Molotov cocktails, grenades or dynamite,
knitting needles, ash trays,
those decorative wall plates?
Oh, I almost forgot~
empty bottles and automobiles,
hands, feet, and fists
or just plain matches.
Christ, we should outlaw everything,
cause anything can be a weapon!
Fact is,
murder’s been booming since the
beginning of time,
I’m sure
they used rocks
back in the prehistoric days.
Imagine the Flintstones
being busted
for tossing Pebbles!
Take away the guns, who’s
gonna own them then?
That’s right folks-the criminals will.
And, there will still be gun-killing.
For crying out loud citizens,
does it matter whether or not
I’m for them or against them?
Seems odd to me to punish the
law-abiding ninety-nine percent
for the hatreds of the
sicko-one-percent.
Indeed, something smells fishy.
Like, uhhhhhhhh, stinky tyranny.
Guess we’re all too young
to remember
good 'ole
Bunker Hill.
Here friends,
swallow
this pill,
chill a bit.

Thanks Poetryman and Strider for your entries...now we're talking. Dialogue is important; sharp tongues can slice like a sword but won't kill.

I was hoping you're going to post your ramblings about the NRA's ad here, JJ and yes, old poems are OK.
