"Small Hands"

I think about him everyday.
Dad lay comfortably in bed in
the center of the room, sibling
eyes gazed, surrounded him while
he struggled to breath, mouth
gulping air like a starved
fish out of water,
tears streamed our faces when
he suddenly stopped with a sigh,
skin immediately turned ashen,
I looked down at his hands that
had once held us all, now,
they seemed so small.

An Ode to Nick:

No words I write or think could ever say
How sad and empty I feel you're not here today
The Angels came for you Nick, much sooner than
seemed fair.

I'll brave the bitter grief that comes in waves
And I'll try my best to write and ode for you:

In my heart Nicholas you will always remain
What I'm suffering seems so unfair and hard.
But one thing is for certain,
My love for you will always be there...

Nick my Son you always will be the most
important part of my hearts memory.
I'll cherish the moments and times we
spent while I did my damnedest to show
you how to be a man, so strong,
so staunch, so brave.

And I'm sure that if you had of stayed longer
You would have graced me, ever increasing,
with your quite resilient progress into manhood.
And in doing so repaid an old man's heart.
Nick you made me proud as you beat back
all the odds mate.

Only real men can overcome a broken past.
While all the pretenders fade away...
You kicked the black dog down Son,
you did it fine with style...

To grow and rise becoming a warrior of a man.
A true winner. Only to be snatched away from
us right as you scaled the heights.
What a dismal tragedy.
I'll lament forever more and sure,
I'll cry in a man's way,
just as I showed you.

A thousand words won't bring you back I know because I've tried
Neither will a thousand tears I know because I've cried
Now you're up in Heaven with the Angels up above
They will take my place for now and they'll give you all their love
So go and rest in peace now, my little boy so dear
For all my love and memories I will hold forever near.

Bad they say she was back then
but a child in the corn
kneeling all day long inside
for something so innocent
she was scorned.

It made her such a bitter soul
always hurting inside out
no one was dealt worse than her
got worse as she grew old.

Yet me I see such a treasure there
such beauty deep inside
A true heart beating for her loves
its they who seem to hide.
Judgements unjustified.

Grandma inspires my mind
