Poetry Contest

Write a piece on how you view yourself whilst looking at the great abyss .
Here's an example

I Can See Neptune

Walking along
I can see Neptune
shining really strong
above the dusted moon
new words of a song
they come rushing through
Mars is blushing too
my steps they rush , one , two
on this lush balloon
I so miniscule
take a lasting breath
of the large see through
atomic molecules
what is my effect
and what do I turn to
some energy renewed
selectional , directional
complexity , terrestrial
we burn to be from the big sol
then you are me
we're spent then gone
none entity's in spherical
and then there's bi-dimensional
as my mind try's to take it all
my eyes do see
why I am small  .

- Winged Bliss -

In soaring, like an angel, on winged bliss,
I felt like dancing, across the very skies…
And for but the price of thy warmest kiss:
I would bring thee the sun as it doth rise!
No greater love could I bestow than this,
Nor nobler passion to between us realize.
Mayhap we could, to old Mars fly so far,
To paint hearts on that red planet’s sands!
Mayhap we could touch each distant star,
And visit on other worlds, ancient lands…
Bringing to the galaxy peace and not war.
Our only law being our love’s commands!

In fields of lilies, paradises beyond count,
Thy lips were thirsty, my mouth the fount.

Fleeter, than promises made in the throes,
Of passion, would be our flight, ecstatic…
Across that void which only a god knows.
Swift our wings, our course never erratic!
To touch the flower that celestial grows…
And feel its’ currents, intense and electric.
Could we hold the eye of Jupiter in hands?
Nay, for what hand could grasp a world!
Could we touch Saturn’s rings and bands?
Aye, as to some paradise we are hurled…
Obedient to passion’s maddest demands,
Needing no ship, with sails ever unfurled!

Love is the vessel that bears us with fire…
Its’ fizzling fuel: the fair halo of our desire.

All this I can bestow, if thou wilt but care,
In selfless devotion, for an angel such as I!
Be not afraid, and into my eyes, but stare.
Within them, my soul is laid bare, not shy!
Take the lily from my hand, pale and fair…
And speak my name as together we defy,
The darkness of the universe that reaches!
I ask naught else, and this is all I do seek:
To fly with thee where only love breaches,
All walls and barriers that kept us weak…
Yet, which are fragile, as passion teaches.
Let thy own wings emerge; be not meek!

Dream of Fools
If dreams came true and I could fly
I would spread my wings and catch the sky

I would soar on winds   clouds I'd caress
I would leave behind unhappiness

I would fly above the eagles nest then higher I would go
To clothe myself in moonbeams dress   and shed my sorrow so

If I had wings to set me free  Nere again would I touch the ground
I would float atop a soft windsong and I never would be found

If dreams came true   I would never wake
to a world so filled with pain

I would chase away the thunder clouds
And with happiness I'd rain

I would beam with all the fireflies
just to brighten up the sky
I would light the way to show you how
Then too   maybe you could fly

If I close my eyes
If I wish real hard
And if only dreams came true

I would share this gift of freedom
And I'd soar the skies with you

We could dance atop a ray of sun
We could surf on gusts of air

We could cross the night on a shooting star
We could do it    if we dared

If I could rise on wind with grace
Nere again would I need to cry

The only tears to touch my face
Would drop from swollen skies

But a dream
Is but a dream
and I say this thing to you

Everyone knows the dreams of fools
They never do come true

No, I'll never dance on moonbeams-They will quietly pass me by
I'll not soar the skies with eagles-yes without me they must fly

I'll not leave behind our sorrows-as I'm racing with the wind
I'll not save you from your deepest pain
Broken hearts I will not mend

IF I CLOSE MY EYES
IF I WISH REAL HARD
AND IF DREAMS OF FOOLS CAME TRUE...............

Atramentous

Endless

This wall-less maze in which there is
no sense of direction

Whether I am

falling
drifting
rising
or
simply stationary

I do not know
And I might have stopped caring

Lost is not the correct word for what I'm feeling
There seems to be a much better suited word out there

Describing such a catastrophic predicament
with finesse and bitter resolve

Fucked

Yes, I think that only crisp profanity
could save my sanity

If I had any left

I feel claustrophobic in this suit
though it is the only thing protecting me

My exoskeleton
grey in color
ribbed with metal reinforcement
My oxygen humming on my back

I imagine it would be humming
a melodic answer to my own humming

But I hear nothing

It's as if my ears are filled with gauze

Contradictory to my constriction
I've never felt so exposed
lonely and small

Space
Atramentous and forbidding
Absolute darkness

shrouding me in a cloak of anonymity

I am reduced to nothing
insignificance

Not even the stars
distant and twinkling
light my path back home

Home
A place I took for granted
Hell, I still do

Witnessing Space
Even dying in Space

will be more exhilarating
than anything I could have accomplished back home

my life had been more or less failure

Tragedy

Alcohol-drenched nights
drugs raping my senses

Pathetically clinging to the false hope
that purpose would find me

Now look at me

Surrounded by stars
Not the stars you see from Earth

but real stars
more brilliant and clear than I think I've earned the right
to gaze upon their terrible beauty

Indifferent to my problems though they are

The small comfort that they give
isn't nearly enough to quell my unease

I look beneath me
only to see un-ending chasm
to all sides
abysmal depths of the Universe

I can't help but wonder
what if Space had gravity?

Would I fall?

Into a Black Hole?

I worry myself with these thoughts
cannibalizing my brain
fear taking hold

Though I know
inside
I will be dead soon regardless

I know they're not looking for me

There would be no point
When it's not just a matter of three dimensions
But eleven?

I can't even comprehend that
Eleven dimensions

If I could have one more drink
steady my growing hunger

the burn of acidic bile growing in my throat

I wonder how long it will take
Dying in Space

"The Final Frontier"

The final chapter of my life

Written eloquently in the hand of a
Cold-hearted Bitch

My chest aches
Suffocation has slowly begun

Taking it's damn time
poisoning me little by little
With my own exhaled breath

I gaze upon the mystery of Space

I want to make sure that I take it all in
This unforeseen treasure
As I die

drifting into nothing

Your poem is very lovely, and quite splendid diddi! Caliban has fantastic taste to notice it, too.

Headspace

I'm far from optic rather microscopic
It takes my breath away the feeling is toxic
The galaxy seems never ending like the measurement of pi
Floating so high I'm lost in sci-fi
A sprinkle, a twinkle, an alien at best
As the reality digest I begin to manifest
My surroundings as I'm drowning in a sea of constellations
This quirky observation is beyond my imagination
My mind can't even fathom the diameter of orbit
My brain becomes a sponge as I try to absorb it
Exploding rockets and shifting moons
But this astronaut's expedition will be ending soon
I have to get ready for work in an hour
As land back on earth my alarm clock gets louder
Time to wake up

Souls abyss

Watery eyes
tears falling down
slowly I take a step
I can not fake a frown
Take my crown,
please take my crown.

Step…step…step

I only smiled at you
even though behind this mask
there is a heart made from glass
it's broken now.

How could you do this to me?
All that's left is to take this step.

When I look at the stars
I see their infinity and feel so alone
You were there for me that time
Now you're gone and I
