As I stare blank into the moonlit room
I close my eyes as I silently pray
I asked God if He could send me a person to love…
I asked Him if He could lend me a minute of love…
I never thought He would give me more than enough
And then it took me a minute to realize it will last FOREVER…
The day I saw you smile
It took a breath and I heed for more than I should
Suddenly I grasped it was you I wanna be with
Baby. I'm whispering forever...

and later on in life

reminding me i got those brown eyed blues
i couldn't live without her
life just wouldn't be fun
i think i might be so sad
i would take my living gun
and let him do his job
it would rob me of less life
then if she left
but i know she won't because she loves me so
and when i'm with her my soul is consoled
i feel that much better
and hopefully this feeling lasts forever
even after we're old
that it transcends death
and we ride the boat together
when our eternal souls lay to rest

because even death can't take us apart
i would kill a man for her
and not lose any rest
because she's just better then the rest
or at least i hope that's

It was quarter to three
on some grey-addled thursday
as we lay in the after dark
cautiously retreating
to the creeping shadows
in which our faith simply danced
The watchmen had long since
extinguished the lights
as if they were matchsticks aflame,
the air was cool and inviting
and I watched my breath
sway wistfully into the night
The feel of the damp
seeped through my outer layers
as we rested there,
my eyes darting back and forward
skimming from one star to the next
with child-like admiration
And we were happy this way
watching the carnival of the heavens
illuminate its fairy lights just for us;
We named a select few
you chose unyielding warrior words
and I gently chose the favourites I knew
It was almost hard to believe
Earth was hurtling through space,
yet- you held my hand to keep me safe
as the clouds combusted with empathy
showing only the silver highlights
of the vapour trails above
proving we were here. We existed.
Our carbon-scorched prints
forever marking this very place;
Where we were unafraid of each other
or the immortality of heaven
or the very face of God
above.
