"Grief"

I've been sitting here, languid
with my half-eaten toast
and empty coffee cup
remembering,
just this morning,
how you smiled at me
in my hideous slippers
and towel/ dressing gown
morning hair
like I was beautiful;
told me you couldn't wait
to get back home

You kissed me 'goodbye'
searched deep in my eyes to say
'I love you' -
and the alien ice
that burns in my veins
only for you
(only ever for you)
remained

because
I'd lived for that smile
when you were after my fire
or every so often
when we would get home
from our once-a-year nights
with your jealous-eyed friends
and the rest of the time
you couldn't care less
if I rotted
hanging on for you

And now that I've finally
finally
waved the white flag
suggesting a truce
just between friends
so I can see straight again
after years of denial

here you are
hovering
to give me everything
I've ever needed
from you

If you don't mind, I'll stay here
in my corner
for a while
and no
I won't wallow

but
for God's sake
please

please
let
me
breathe

and give me time to gather will to lose
a place as pure as this, I found
so long after
I thought
I lost
you

Murder Loves Death

some affection you showed.
too tired to row your own boat.
too proud to take an insult.
too shy to leave a mark.
so hot and wild and dark.

devil woman I could have loved you.
I could have killed you.
tears from heaven fall on my hair.
I dare not look up in despair.
if you can kill then so can I.
watch me burn this memory alive.

don't play with words that don't suit you.
smarter than most, beautiful are you.
wicked, unclean, demonness serene.
driving me mad with her tantrums.
toying with me.
teasing.
deceiving.

you yell and cry and leave me to die.
you bitch, you whore I love you no more.
laughing and dreaming before the night.
everything after was just a lie.
so much to say while you've gone astray.
my angel, my vixen, frozen you stay.
must I persuade you another way?

Yesterday, Today, Tomorrow

Yesterday

I breathed your intoxicating desire
 caressed your inflaming intensity
 tasted your awakened demand
 absorbed your passionate yearn
 witnessed your stimulating euphoria

Yesterday
We were one soul
in two bodies.

Today

I breathe your piercing anguish
 caress your persecuting turmoil
 taste your suffocating heartache
 absorb your punishing nightmare
 witness your agonizing plague

Today
We are one soul
on two realms.

Tomorrow

I will breathe my unforgiving devotion
       caress my grasping grief
       taste my starving tears
       absorb my sorrowful shock
       witness my violent daze

Tomorrow
I will join you, and
we will be whole again.

Silhouettes

a candle glow
a soft lit room
a dance of love
a wife and groom

two shadows sway
two souls assigned
two frames as one
two lives combined

three day's of bliss
three times he seized
three hours more
three way's he pleased

two weeks she's late
two love's conceive
two months along
two hearts now three

a baby's born
a shadow made
a mom and dad
a new display

A Tazer Won't Phase Her

I sit in the tunnel
alone and listen
no one is coming
my thoughts are wishful

blue

there's only you .

I don't know why
I come here sometimes
echoeing , falling
I keep on calling

you

there's only you .

Wandering I'm lost
in the frost you frozen
beholden
I'm folding
untold
in the cold
of

you

where are you .

A lazer she sent down
broke my emotions
a tazer won't phase her
no commotion or frown
at all

she'll never crawl

Was it nice
did it feel good
my insides you diced
then you boiled my blood ,
how does it feel
to taste my spleen ,
was I clean enough
for your taste buds ,
distraction
detraction
subtraction love ,
a fraction
or fracture
is all I ever
was

that's all I was  .

I do

Yes I do
everything for you
Yes I do
lay down my life for you
Yes I do
Love and obey you
Yes I do
stay faithful to you
Yes I do
I do, o yes I do.
But do You?

Crazy Me , Sane You

I like crazy
it is my way
clarity , reality
it is too fake  ,
you always want a go
at me
your so perfect
and  now blame free
what you don't get
is I can see
that things aren't what
they seem to be
devoid
of all
responsibility
paranoid
and with the gaul
to try and judge me
but you cannot buy the call
of a bird who's free
there's only you who'll  fall
when your up in a tree
looking down on all the small
that from once you'd feed .

You used to class me
as your mentor
now your nasty
and judgemental .

You cheated the test
that qualify's your fight
your only the best
at living a fat lie
you've a phoney zest
inside a faulse life
with such adamance
at always being right
but you jumped the fence
when things got tight
the pounds the pence
only shine a light
on the shallowness
of your plight
but at least I can rest
when I sleep each night .

Marriage, the close union of two things

Marriage; the close union of two things,
Marriage is what brings us together today.
Into this archaic stone building
Once used for religion and a place to pray.
But marriage brings us here together today
Marriage like ‘First-World’ money with ‘Third-World- poverty
Or some Middle Easterner’s face with their Dictators missiles
Bear with me as we slowly proceed down the aisles,
Marriage like a politician’s ‘promises’ with their own plans,
Let us now rise and join hands
For the Happy Couple,
How dapper the groom looks in his suit!
And doesn’t the groom also look smart in his suit!
Maybe the sparkles are a bit much,
I don’t think silver sparkles and penguin-suit monochrome marry.
But marriage is what brings us here today,
Sperm and egg brought you forth yesterday,
And a taxi likely brought you here today,
Tomorrow it’ll be the car if petrol isn’t extinct.
But marriage is what brings us here today,
And just look at how many ideas are at the reception.
There is the hope that it is us
Who will bring marriage forth for the future.

I Don’t

I never really understood why I’d need a piece of paper
To document my love like it’s proof that married love is greater
Than the love two people share without one financial blow out of a day
Swapping names and sharing assets, the merging of two identities to one
Ceasing to be individual entities, now bound by contractual obligations

And as it turns out, I’m not entitled to such a legal “binding” of love anyway
When the government and church class me as a lesser being
Like we’re living in a much earlier century, where prejudice could be cloaked
In religion and ignorance, hate propaganda filling minds that homosexuality is a sickness
Though it’s no business of the state if two consenting adults
Of the same gender happen to fall in love

And I’ve never wanted to give myself away like I’m paying my way into slavery
My partner flashing me around as though I’m a fashion accessory going “OMG… meet my wife”
When I loathe to feel like a possession in the arsenal of societal clauses
That states that I need to be just like everyone else… whoever everyone else might happen to be
Though there is no guarantee that contractual love will last forever anyway. So contracts
And financial debts be damned, I believe in love, though not in the trend of papering it
And signing away my life to another person, when true love should be free

"The Proposal"
by:  Eric L. Boddie

I remember the first time I looked into your eyes
I remember the first time we ordered extra large fries
I remember the first time we woke up together
I remember the aroma of your hair when you come in from the weather
I remember your middle name and how it sounds so unique
I remember how you sound if you chew gum while you speak
I remember the very day that I first tasted your precious kiss
I remember that i have never felt about another girl quite like this
I remember how you laugh when you hear me tell a joke
I remember how you Loved me, even in the times that I was broke
I remember how you look if I come in too late
I remember what you wore on our very first date
I remember your expression when they play our special song
I remember how you sound when i touch you with my tongue
I remember the first time I surprised you at your job and took you to lunch
I remember the sweet sound of your voice saying "I Love you" more than once
I remember calling you when it's just starting to get dark
I remember holding your hand as we walk through the park
I remember how you look when you comb your hair and what you like to eat
I remember the favorite pair of shoes you like on your feet
I remember the ones you chose the first time we exchanged words
I remember the sound of your voice being the most Beautiful thing I have ever heard
I remember the very thing that made me want us to be together
I remember how much I Love you girl....will you be mine forever

These hotel sheets can’t hold me forever,
and neither can this hairspray.
This white dress is too long for my taste,
but you bought it so I have to anyway.

I'm a little depressed,
glancing down this empty aisle.
Do I give in to live prosperously?
Or live longer happy, broke, and wild?

Would I be here if you had no money?
Absolutely not.
This baby I carry wouldn't be there,
if we hadn't gotten caught.

I stagger towards you with a shocking grace,
my heart pulling me back all the way.
Grinding my teeth with a bleached white smile,
keeping my loathing at bay.

Your greasy black hair never impressed me,
neither do your polished shoes.
I roll my eyes on the alter, rice flying at me,
and spit out a hasty, “I do.”

"I've never felt this way before,"
"Really? Neither have I!
To think this is only day 1
of the rest of our lives...."

Here I go again.

So lost and confused

I thought I had my one last cry

I guess my heart has pressed rewind

Now I don't wanna say goodbye

Shattered dreams

Left in the dark

Where there was once warmth

Now its cold in your heart

From our love you walked away

Me on the ground

You with nothing to say

Here I go again.

I have to stop living this lie

I'm now left to pick up the broken pieces

There is no more sun in our sky

Yesterdays happiness I had borrowed

The pain once buried will return again tomorrow

Here I go...The tears are moving in

Forever & Always

I want you forever,
through the good the bad
and the ugly , for rich or
for poor or whatever .
I want to hold you in my arms every night
And wake up next to you still  sleeping tight
I want to share every moment ,
And make our love permanent .
I'll hold you every time you are feeling blue
And make you laugh at the silly things I do
I'll keep you company so you'll never be alone.
I'll hold you so close , ill never let you go .
I want a future with you ,
Kids , and big house .
I want you and only you
Forever and always .
Marry me .

And then he bent down on his knee
Took his hand out holding a ring, and Looked in her watery eyes .
"I do" she said .
And suddenly they became one .
