Leftovers

They were only half dead,
infected by bark beetles.
Together they gathered
like zombies,
a riverside cluster
torn and dismembered
shuffled to a random array.

Each day someone walks past
they ignore the un-miraculous,
avoid the dark exterior
no one wants to be bitten.

I need the bite
offering a throat
to be ripped out
I embrace the group,
take my place
but all I find is their grace
as we feed on the last supper.

It's an Egg, Not a Choice

"The ruling majority of Christians holds each power to account --
save its own."
--a rationally ethical antinatalist,
merely one among countless minorities
seemingly powerless

What poor, unwanted eggs knocked up by sperms would not rejoice
to straightway be adopted by all Christians anti-choice?

A letter to suicide

You crave souls because you're greedy,

You take souls because you're needy.

You claim to be starving,

So you sit and watch as people grab their razors and start carving.

You are nothing more than a cowardly fool,

Watching the innocent souls seeking death makes you drool.

You sit and wait for the the mental pain to get out of control,

When souls leave their bodies you swallow them whole.

Some feel you are an escape but you are no Friend,

You'll never be a helping hand.

You are like a loaded gun shooting bullets through the air,

All the lifeless bodies hit the floor and you just sit and stare.

You're a theif,

You laugh at the family tree as you steal another leaf.

You also steal time from their life clock,

This is murder but in this case the bodies wont be outlined with chalk.

All I can do is pray that you fail over and over again.

Knowing you is like dragging around a ball and chain.

This has taken me a few days, because I was so torn!  I really loved them all, and they definitely made me think.  The prize winner and runners-up were chosen because they managed to turn some kind of image on its head and really make me see things in a different way.  It was an incredibly difficult decision!  I will endeavour to leave everyone a nice bit of feedback soon.
