Poetry Contest Description
New Member of the Month Feature
Welcome to "New Member of the Month"!
You have 3 weeks to nominate Your favorite poems from a NEW DUP poet - someone who has been a member for no more than six months.
To locate New Members simply click on 'Poems' > *Latest Poems > Sort Poems > New Members!
Please note the following guidelines when making nominations:
1. Self nominations are not accepted. The great majority of the competitions here are about spotlighting one's own work on a particular topic or theme. This is a chance to nominate that poem that you wish you had written but some other great talent here beat you to it.
2. Until this comp is established, there is no limit to nominations; however, you can't nominate more than one poem per individual new member. *****
3. No DUPLICATES. If someone nominates the same poem the entry will be deleted. If you like it that much wait and vote for it!
4. Any genre except erotica or pornography. This is a Facebook feature and we must adhere to their guidelines.
5. Any member who is banned or disables their account PRIOR to the win will be automatically disqualified.
6. One win per member per calendar year ( 12 months ).
7. All nominators should notify their nominees of nominations.
8. PLEASE DON’T NOMINATE RECENT WINNERS ( see list below )
Any nominated member who wishes to opt out of the competition may do so by messaging me. I will contact the person who nominated you and request an alternate nomination.
Nomination Duration is 3 weeks followed by a week of site voting!

Element(s)
I found you
in the darkness
of the night
as the clock ticks
in the quietness
of my mind
where my thoughts
are the very loudest
I found you
in the depths
of our words
each letter knowing
every syllable falling
finding comfort
in the sweet silence
between the periods
catching our breath
at the commas
and holding on
through the parentheses
I found you
in the lucid ink
of my pen
that scatters across
this blank canvas
I found you
in the element(s)
that trickle through my veins
and into my heart
in the darkness
of the night
as the clock ticks
in the quietness
of my mind
where my thoughts
are the very loudest
I found you
in the depths
of our words
each letter knowing
every syllable falling
finding comfort
in the sweet silence
between the periods
catching our breath
at the commas
and holding on
through the parentheses
I found you
in the lucid ink
of my pen
that scatters across
this blank canvas
I found you
in the element(s)
that trickle through my veins
and into my heart

SIBERIAN SONG
I am sounding my song.
It is a somber song.
Yet sprinkled with colors,
Hopeful colors.
Like the sparkling shards of pure color.
Refracted by the hexagonal prisms of the
Early morning Siberian snow.
Each, elegant, crystalline, fragile in hue.
Each imbued with its own vision of hope.
Hope of redemption by extreme unction.
I have been exiled.
I am penitent.
I am content.
No, privileged!
To gaze up transfixed,
By the gleaming brass ring.
And the jangle of my jailers bright keys,
And the jangle of electroplated keys.
And the scintillating tinkling of the keys.
It is a somber song.
Yet sprinkled with colors,
Hopeful colors.
Like the sparkling shards of pure color.
Refracted by the hexagonal prisms of the
Early morning Siberian snow.
Each, elegant, crystalline, fragile in hue.

I am content.
No, privileged!
To gaze up transfixed,
By the gleaming brass ring.
And the jangle of my jailers bright keys,
And the jangle of electroplated keys.
And the scintillating tinkling of the keys.

I was taught to look people in the eyes.
“It shows respect”.
“It shows confidence”.
It shows how they feel about you, hence why that’s my biggest motive to try and maintain contact.
Our eyes are a gateway into our inner beings.
Staring into someone’s eyes is the ultimate form of listening.

The river
The dark
red river
flows,
so let
it spill
down to
the floor.
There isn't
pain that's
big enough
to make
me feel
and not
enough
to just
let go,
so let
the pill
take this
poor soul
back home.

Beyond Life
Look everyone has problems
We deal with them differently
Addiction
Self harm
Eating Disorders
You name it
It happens
I read somewhere that every 62 minutes
someone dies from an eating disorder
Every 11 minutes someone dies from suicide
That 65 million people die each year in the world
That is 178,000 each day
7425 each hour
and 120 each minute.
Imagine that being someone you know
You love them
You care for them
You want to help them but they won't accept
They are scared lately
What would you do?
How would you save them?
What would you say?
Experiencing something so real
Something that nobody will truely understand
They say "I understand"
When they don't
They think they do
They want to help
But don't know how
We as people have the natural instinct
to want to help
We want to save lives
Call ouselves hero's
When really we are all hero's
Hero's because we make it out of bed every morning
We all deserve a chance
We deal with them differently
