Poetry Contest

Pick a French form you like or what you want to give a go at.
I've noticed that I enjoy French form, Villanelle being my favorite so far out of the forms I've tried and read; I have not read or tried all.

https://www.writersdigest.com/write-better-poetry/11-french-poetic-forms

Above is a link of French forms to pick from, not a complete list but something to take you in a direction.  Click the poem style and read what it takes to make it into that form.

Rules:
Must be a French form [state the form in Author's Note]
One entry per poet or poetess
Do not enter a poem with a previous win
Any subject
Sensual not pornographic writes are cool
Two weeks
No collaborations

Enjoy!

Counting Sheep

I asked if I could count the sheep,
they like to scatter up the hill.
I run quick step to take a peep
and find a place to lie quite still,
could see the flock beyond the mill.
I spot the new born wagging tails
and watch the rutting baby males.
A fox runs out, the bleating starts
I scramble fast on sod and shale,
he nears the lambs but hears my bark.

Once Upon a French September

And when September shines her golden lights
we’ll dance, like embers, reaching for the sky.
The blazing trees alight with flitting sprites –
they tempt our eyes, convince us we can fly
and when our senses come back with a sigh
we’ll bask in softly glowing Autumn dreams
of lounging, cozy, lazy bedroom scenes.
With you, my love, I’ll take the changing days
of nature claiming all the summer green
for in your hands, a promise I can stay.

Saprophytic

Her words form plaited ribbons of lies.
In her web of deception she will weave
serpents tongue and dour disguise.

A saprophyte, feeding to minimize
what the torpid are able to perceive.
Her words form plaited ribbons of lies,

strung together to neutralize
dissent among those who disbelieve
serpents tongue and dour disguise.

She moves with intent as seasons rise,
shackling those she would deceive.
Her words form plaited ribbons of lies.

There will be those who martyrize,
seeking her favor to apperceive
serpents tongue and dour disguise.

Who among us will alchemize
this foul beast’s hold upon the naïve.
Her words form plaited ribbons of lies,
serpents tongue and dour disguise.

The Dragon's Rings

The ancient beast spread his wings,
Casting a great shadow upon the sea,
Carrying a cypress chest full of rings.

His insatiable craving for shiny things,
With a treasured parcel tied to his knee,
The ancient beast spread his wings.

His boundless bounty was that of kings,
Stones of the sky, the hues of trees,
Carrying a cypress chest full of rings.

Stories told, that bard's would sing,
Of wails of kings, heard on a breeze,
The ancient beast spread his wings.

Men of power they felt his sting,
For one can not do as you please,
Carrying a cypress chest full of rings.

He came to rest beyond a spring,
Took a peek, to set his heart at ease.
The ancient beast spread his wings,
Carrying a cypress chest full of rings.
