Venture a Highway

(For old souls always young at heart)

Not sure why there is nostalgia
For days long gone
and for some of us...never lived
Driving the open road
The wind
Freedom and endless possibilities ahead

Perhaps it’s the harmonies
Echoing from a timeless era
Taking us down some memory lane
Venture a highway
With open heart
Reminiscent of simpler but happier days

Maybe that’s why we’re sentimental
We long to get lost in innocence and youth
Like counting cars passing by
Or falling stars across the sky
With little or no worries on our minds

Those were some wonderful times

DESERT

this is where
sand is water
and fish is bird
and i, you
and you, me
and the ends
of this cord meet
exactly where
we stand

and in the circle
dunes are waves
that break on a shore
that seemed endless
but ended here

and how we rode so hard
and all the horses
were one horse
with no name
and all the faces
one face
and all the places
one place
and the earth was rich
and unspoiled, timeless
beneath all
that crumbles
in time

Sweet Caroline

On the stage it stood so bare
the amps unplugged all was silence, peaceful, quiet
the spotlight lost, a star to share
his ghost stood at the mike,
in the crowds thick fug.

Tickets rare a rocking horse shit,
pawned my goods to make the trip,
for they came in hordes and droves,
in admiration, young and old's.
 Adulation raised the roof.
A greater star, to entrance, with lyrics truth.
the one with which, we could engage,
he sang,  of feelings, fit for every age.
Spoke joy for romance, at every stage
sparkle, presence just, the purity,
 sweet feelings, adolescence to maturity.
Wrapped up in bows,
simple packages, safe from the pecking crows,
take us from our world of woes.
Not the forlorn melted down,
 two of oneness, triumphed loud.
Simplicity when all we had was given free,
cocooned in the bliss of our own propensity of grace.
Sang for a namesake, someone else stood in my place,
I could be that treasure, a golden here and now.
Centre stage Neil Diamond stood and wowed the crowd
the masses sang as if bewitched
Sweet Caroline
"good times never seemed so good"
twenty thousand, backing vocals stood.
Every heart that sours,
the gift, a glimpse of paradise be ours,
That stadium stands empty now,
 ghosts in shadows hum aloud.
Don the faded T-shirt
push the share, and hope to find a new convert

The stairway to your soul

There’s a lady who’s for sure
never have wet met, but she know
blue yonder, I’m her forever more
in this journey, the heavens will show

the way to the moments of glitter
memories beyond years of Twitter
we will meet or not, does it matter?
the astral travel is always on platter!

sign’s on the wall, a songbird sings
moments for all, two she’s seems seeing
for sure, these soulmates are amazing
but just like words, they can have two meanings

words on the wall, they do disappear
moments by the mirror, she’s sincere
imprinting upon me, a love is just near
whispers in my ear, sweet words to hear!

it’s the passion, they rule the game
with its glitters, your bound by fame
alluring beauty, you know thy name
ravenous, a beautiful shrew to tame

mesmerizing, ohh.. the beauty of your eyes
tantalizing, awww... the softness of your lips
hypnotizing, dearly me... the subtle smile of your gaze
enchanting, oh yes... when your body’s locked in my squeeze

to caress your glory, a desire I do confess
to kiss you plenty, this ain’t no contest
never a moment, the intent is to distress
but passionately, your dress I will undress

hopelessly in a worldly disconnect we hold
tonguetied, your imaginary kiss warms my blood that was once cold
i always sensed that passionate fire in your soul
perhaps one day together we would combust and be whole

locked around my neck, your slender arms
wrapped around my hips, your lovely legs
pressed against my chest, yours supple breasts
infused in my heart, the stairway to your soul

Walking like rain (Drops of Jupiter)

I saw you out alone that day
you looked like you would float away
and I asked you
and I asked you
If you would stay

You smiled at me and I believed
the world was dancing on your sleeves
and you told me
and you told me
you had to leave

So I'm standing here all alone
lost myself on the way back home
and I miss you
and I miss you
I miss your soul

I found a way to say goodbye
shouting at the clear night sky
I still love you
I still love you
but I will try

I want to say thank you to our host for giving me the honor (sorry it's taking me this long, but I've been catching up).

The music most of us heard growing up helped shape our moods, whether it was through good or rough times, these tunes gave us hope or they made us dream. Music really does transport us, it connects us, it still let's me dream and imagine.

Everyone submitted wonderful entries. I'm thankful I got to read them all. Hope everyone is doing well.
