blank page
We started with a blank page
to that virgin dance floor we went
on that hard wood floor we took those first steps
beneath those dim light the love dance commenced
the music the two step and swing we dance to everything
so many different feeling meeting they could be ignored
your hand on my shoulder mine on your hip
moving smooth like skaters doing  eights
you were like no one I had ever meet before
in our silence the music and the wood floor
an unspoken beauty in this moment
a story of two hearts love developing
our first night acquainted  began to grow late
closing time wishing this night didn't have to end
others we had dance under those same light
the same hard wood floor and music
what we felt from that first two step
opened anew page for you and me
every thing  before we hit delete
a blank page a love story  being written
on two hearts on a simple country dance floor
page one and chapter one first love
now man and wife  become one

Houseplant

I used to have a plant that I loved.
The ones before neglected and left it
alone in the dark. At the base, there are still scars
yet I stared in awe whenever I saw it.
It had pink flowers mixed with bits of blue,
with a slim, tall, and strong frame.
The pot was white with a round bottom,
with red spots exposed by the chipped paint.
I loved it so hard because I wanted it to thrive,
but maybe I did too much. Every plant is different.
There was already yellow at the ends;
I didn’t notice the overwatering.
It hurt to see the plant go even though
I gave it love, and I thought it was enough.
